Joe Biden’s regime is embroiled in a massive scandal.
One of his henchmen is facing a day of reckoning for a major cover up.
And a top official is facing a criminal charge from Congress that has Joe Biden sweating bullets.
The disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan is one of the biggest foreign policy failures in American history.
President Joe Biden’s gross incompetence was put on display for the world to see with his botched handling of the situation.
The Afghanistan withdrawal sent his approval ratings into a nosedive that he never recovered from.
House Republicans are investigating the withdrawal and the Biden regime is engaged in a cover up to prevent more damaging information from being revealed.
The House Foreign Affairs Committee has been trying to get the State Department to turn over a cable from diplomats in Afghanistan on July 13, 2021, warning that the security situation in the country was rapidly deteriorating and America needed to speed up planning for an evacuation.
The Afghan government collapsed a little over one month later after Taliban forces quickly swept through the war-torn country.
Even though Joe Biden claimed he was blindsided by the Afghan government’s swift collapse, he dismissed the warnings from his own State Department.
Despite a subpoena from the Foreign Affairs Committee, Secretary of State Antony Blinken has been refusing to turn over this dissent cable from diplomats.
The dissent cable could reveal the extent that the Biden regime ignored the warnings from their own diplomats in the country about preparing for the fall of the Afghan government.
13 American soldiers were killed by a suicide bomber during the chaotic withdrawal and hundreds of U.S. citizens were left stranded in the country.
Secretary of State facing historic contempt of Congress charge
Secretary of State Antony Blinken was issued a subpoena for the dissent cable in late March from the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
Blinken missed a May 11 deadline from Committee Chair Michael McCaul (R-TX) to turn over the cable.
After ignoring the Congressional subpoena, Blinken is going to face the consequences.
McCaul is planning to move forward with contempt of Congress charges against the Secretary of State in early June.
Contempt of Congress is a federal criminal charge that carries a maximum penalty of a year in jail and a $100,000 fine.
The charge would be turned over to the Biden Justice Department, but Attorney General Merrick Garland would likely refuse to prosecute the case.
But being held in contempt of Congress would still be a historic feat for Blinken.
If the Foreign Affairs Committee follows through, he would become the first Secretary of State in history to be held in contempt of Congress.
“We’ve given them ample time,” McCaul said. “Three extensions of time we tried to work this out, but unfortunately, it doesn’t appear that that’s going to work and the next step will be to move to contempt proceedings.”
McCaul said he doesn’t “particularly relish” moving forward with the contempt proceedings, but he wanted to stand up for the families of the soldiers who lost their lives in the withdrawal.
A historic contempt of Congress charge against Antony Blinken would be another black eye for a Biden regime already marred by scandal.
