Texas Congressman Dan Crenshaw is one of the biggest RINOs in Congress.
After Republicans won back the majority, Crenshaw figured his alliance with the establishment would pay off with a major reward.
But Dan Crenshaw’s big mouth led to this humiliating defeat.
Conservatives blocked Kevin McCarthy from winning the job of Speaker of the House on 14 ballots as they engaged in negotiations over House rules and how the GOP will handle legislative fights like the debt ceiling.
As the fight dragged on Crenshaw smeared the conservatives negotiating for things like 72 hours before voting on a bill, votes on term limits, border security, and cutting spending as “terrorists.”

Crenshaw then went on CNN and groveled for forgiveness and said he apologized to his colleagues over comparing them to Al-Qaeda and ISIS.
“Things get heated and things get said,” Crenshaw told CNN’s Jake Tapper. “Obviously, to the people who took offense by that, it’s pretty obvious that it’s meant as a turn of phrase. It’s in the context of intransigent negotiations.”
“Look, I’ve got pretty thick skin. I’m called awful, vile things by the very same wing of the party that I was fighting at that moment, so I was a little taken aback by the sensitivity of it,” Crenshaw added. “To the extent that I have colleagues that were offended by it, I sincerely apologize to them. I don’t want them to think I actually believe they’re terrorists. It’s clearly a turn of phrase that you use in what is an intransigent negotiation.”
Crenshaw did not apologize out of the goodness of his heart or because he actually meant it.
Crenshaw is a dyed-in-the-wool establishment Republican who supports so-called “red flag” gun confiscation laws and unlimited funding for Joe Biden’s war in Ukraine.
Instead, Crenshaw apologized because his personal career advancement was at stake.
But Crenshaw’s backpedaling did not pay off and House Freedom Caucus member Mark Green beat out Crenshaw for the chairmanship of the Homeland Security Committee.
Sources say that committee members were disturbed by Crenshaw labeling of conservative Republican colleagues as “terrorists” and considered him too hotheaded for the role of chairman.

This is a big win for conservatives.
Crenshaw is hostile to the Right and would undoubtedly use his perch as a committee chairman to undermine conservatives at every turn on issues like gun control, immigration, and warrantless government spying.
