Dave Chappelle is one of the most successful comics of his generation.
However, woke radicals can’t stand for comedy that is funny – “safe comedy” is all that’s acceptable.
And in just five words Chappelle just summed up why the Left can’t let people like him speak their minds.
Not long ago, Netflix ruled the entertainment roost.
And when the pandemic hit, the streaming service experienced record numbers.
Get woke, go broke
With record numbers of eyeballs on its products, Netflix went into overdrive pushing a woke agenda on its viewers.
Documentaries pushing Democrat heroes and policy positions, original movies catering more to inclusion than plot, and series sexualizing elementary school girls.
Netflix then began covering up negative feedback on its leftist content.
When Amy Schumer delivered a “brave and beautiful” stand up that almost entirely consists of jokes about her private parts, viewers practically broke the dislike button.
So, Netflix got rid of it so the Democrat-endorsing Schumer could save face.
But as the saying goes, “get woke, go broke.”
Viewers started cutting the proverbial Netflix cord in droves.
The boycott showed up in Netflix’s bottom line, leading to two straight devastating quarterly reports – including one where the service lost more subscribers than it gained for the first time in its history.
On the heels of missed projects, the higher ups at the streaming service knew changes had to come.
First, it laid off hundreds of employees.
Then it nixed multiple planned releases for woke content from creators like Ibram X. Kendi and Meghan Markle.
They stood up for Dave Chappelle’s First Amendment rights when the LGBT community came after him for telling a joke about trans people.
And Netflix gave Ricky Gervais a special despite him also being labeled a transphobe.
When staff grumbled about the two stand-up specials, the President of the company told his workers if they didn’t like the new direction, they were welcome to leave.
Chappelle fights for his rights
On his new podcast, The Midnight Miracle, legendary comedian Dave Chappelle spoke about the Netflix controversy and how woke activists have tried to shut down his stand-up concerts.

Chappelle was supposed to perform at First Avenue in Minneapolis, but the cancel culture mob got the show shut down.
First Avenue was roasted on Twitter for its weak-kneed caving to the mob.
The show was moved to the much bigger Varsity Theater – and once again, the woke outrage mob protested the comedian and tried to ban him from performing.

Chapelle detailed the censorship efforts he’s faced simply for telling jokes.
“One of the things that these people, the trans and their surrogates, always say is that my jokes are somehow gonna be the root cause of some impending violence,” Chappelle said. “But I gotta tell you, as abrasive as [the activists] were — the way they were protesting, throwing eggs at people, throwing barricades, cussing and screaming — nobody beat ’em up.”
The comedian believes the Left’s antics aren’t about safety at all – they’re about intimidation and the silencing of any opinions that don’t coincide with their own personal “truths.”
“They want to be feared,” Chappelle said, summing up the woke movement. “If you say this, then we will punish you — we will come to . . . fuck your show up. And they just don’t get to do that to me.”
Chappelle added they can’t shut him up because he’s already made too much money from his incredibly successful and award-winning stand-up comedy specials, his long run with The Chappelle Show on Comedy Central and many movie credits.
