Florida Governor Ron DeSantis entered the 2024 GOP race as the top competitor to Donald Trump.
But those days are long gone.
And now Donald Trump could not believe the unspeakable decision Ron DeSantis just made.
Fox Business Channel senior correspondent Charlie Gasparino broke the news that “people close to Ron DeSantis” want him to drop out of the Presidential race.
Gasparino reported these people in DeSantis’ orbit are upset that he intends to continue his campaign through Iowa in the hopes that some “existential” legal or health problems force Trump out of the race.
Scoop: People close to @RonDeSantis growing increasingly despondent about his chances as he continues to languish in polls. They say he is stubbornly refusing the drop out and has enough money to stay in race hoping that something existential happens to @realDonaldTrump

The current polling data paints a bleak picture for the Florida Governor.
A brand-new Quinnipiac poll showed Donald Trump with over 60 percent of the vote and leading DeSantis by 49 points.

DeSantis bet his entire campaign on Iowa after moving his staff to the Hawkeye State and dumping over $2 million on TV ads.
The news out of Iowa isn’t much better.
A poll from Public Opinion Strategies – the pollster for the DeSantis Super PAC Never Back Down – found him trailing Trump by 26 points.

DeSantis doesn’t appear to have a path to the nomination on his own and is hoping that Joe Biden’s Justice Department does his dirty work and takes Trump out of the race.
And DeSantis pinning his hopes on legal issues, forcing Trump to drop his Presidential campaign, led many Trump supporters to see that as the reason DeSantis hasn’t condemned the criminal cases against the former President as politically motivated.
