Amid reports that House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is moving closer to announcing an impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden, Donald Trump wondered what was taking so long.
Trump said Republicans had all the evidence they needed to back up the allegations that the founder of Burisma paid Joe Biden a $5 million bribe and added that McCarthy should hold an impeachment vote right away.
“The Republicans in Congress, though well meaning, keep talking about an Impeachment ‘Inquiry’ on Crooked Joe Biden,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “Look, the guy got bribed, he paid people off, and he wouldn’t give One Billion Dollars to Ukraine unless they ‘got rid of the Prosecutor.’”
Trump pointed out that Democrats impeached him twice and indicted him four times on frivolous charges while Republicans gathered far more serious evidence against Biden.
“Biden is a Stone Cold Crook-You don’t need a long INQUIRY to prove it, it’s already proven,” Trump added. “These lowlifes Impeached me TWICE (I WON!), and Indicted me FOUR TIMES – For NOTHING! Either IMPEACH the BUM, or fade into OBLIVION.”
“THEY DID IT TO US!” Trump concluded.
Anger is building among Republicans over Joe Biden weaponizing the government to target his political opposition.
Impeachment is the only mechanism Republicans have to hold him accountable.
If Republicans are to impeach Biden, they will have to hold an impeachment inquiry.
Then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi skipped steps – especially after January 6 when Congress never held an inquiry – in the two partisan hoaxes Democrats ran against Donald Trump.
Republicans will not want to repeat Pelosi’s mistakes.
And the simple truth is that if Republicans open an impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden, then it will end up with a vote to impeach him.
Republicans can’t open an inquiry and then not impeach Biden, as that would essentially serve as the House GOP majority clearing him on all charges of corruption.
That would hand Joe Biden a powerful talking point to use against Donald Trump – or whoever the GOP may nominate – in the 2024 election.
What rankles conservatives is that they believe there is no way Nancy Pelosi would have sent Congress home for summer vacation if they had a building case for impeachment against Donald Trump.
