Georgia was one of the critical states that decided the 2020 election.
In 2024, Georgia is shaping up to be the tipping point state in more ways than one.
And Donald Trump did one thing in Georgia that left Joe Biden in panic mode.
In both 2020 and 2022, Georgia turned into a graveyard for Trump and his MAGA movement.
Biden won Georgia by a narrow 12,000 vote margin.
In early 2021, Democrats won the Senate majority by sweeping two runoff races after Trump contesting the 2020 election discouraged some Republicans from voting.
Trump recruited Primary challengers to Georgia Governor Brian Kemp and Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger and also recruited Herschel Walker to run against Democrat Senator Raphael Warnock.
All of Trump’s candidates lost.
The Atlanta suburbs were ground zero for college educated white voters defecting to the Democrat Party in the Trump era.
In 2024, Atlanta is one of the Democrat-run cities where a left-wing prosecutor plans to try Donald Trump on baseless, politically motivated charges.
Trump is also scheduled to go to trial in Washington, D.C. in the 2020 election case one week before the Georgia Primary.
Based on all of this, anti-Trump forces figured Georgia was where they could marshal a combination of a powerful GOP establishment and anti-Trump sentiment among the rank and file to deal him a decisive Primary defeat that could swing the momentum in the nomination fight towards the establishment’s favored alternative to Trump.
Those hopes crashed and burned once they ran up against the reality of the situation in the GOP.
An Atlanta Journal Constitution poll showed Doanld Trump winning 57 percent of the vote in the Georgia Primary, with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in a distant second place with just 15 percent of the vote.
Trump celebrated the poll on Truth Social.
“Wow! A big win in Georgia for President Trump! Georgia, which is absolutely a Republican state – I have no doubt about it, bad things happened – is showing up big. They demand accountability and they demand it now. So sad what has happened to one of the greatest places on Earth. But we will win in 2024. Georgia will lead the way. I believe Georgia’s gonna lead the way and we will make America great again. We have to take back our country – 2024, the most important election maybe that this country has ever had because our country’s going bad. We’re a failing nation. Georgia is going to lead the way. You watch. Thank you very much,” Trump posted.
But what should worry Joe Biden even more was the results of a recent Survey USA poll out of Georgia that showed just 40 percent of voters approve of Biden compared to 55 percent who disapprove.
By comparison, 51 percent approved of Trump and 45 percent disapproved.
Those numbers suggest that not only is Georgia very much in play for Trump in 2024, but that he may also hold a slight advantage over Biden.
