Ron DeSantis is about to announce his 2024 Presidential campaign.
That will turn his rivalry with Donald Trump into an all-out war.
And Donald Trump leveled a warning at Ron DeSantis about one storm that is coming.
Trump previously stated that DeSantis “could hurt himself very badly” by running and said he was ready to “tell you things about him that won’t be very flattering.”
Trump attacked DeSantis for being socially awkward and claimed he needed a “personality transplant.”
In the aftermath of Alvin Bragg’s indictment, Trump scored his biggest polling lead over DeSantis in the race.
RCP AVERAGE: Trump has the largest advantage over DeSantis ever.
• Trump — 56% (+36.1)
• DeSantis — 19.9%
• Pence — 5.9%
• Haley — 4.3%
• Ramaswamy — 3.5%
• T. Scott — 2%
• Hutchinson — 1.1%https://t.co/FWREXz3fi4 pic.twitter.com/M09R4WoiO6— InteractivePolls (@IAPolls2022) May 18, 2023
Trump bragged about DeSantis’ slip in the polls and promised it would only get worse once he entered the race.
“Rob DeSanctimonious and his poll numbers are dropping like a rock – I would almost be inclined to say, these are record ‘falls,’” Trump posted on Truth Social. “The question: Is ‘Rob’ just young, inexperienced and naive or, more troubling, is he a fool who has no idea what he is doing. We already have one of those in office, we don’t need another one. MAGA!”
Political observers in Florida warned that the attacks would only get nastier and described them as “the storm is coming.”
“The storm is coming,” Assistant Director of the University of Central Florida’s School of Politics, Aubrey Jewett, told the Washington Times. “As long as Trump views DeSantis as his most serious competitor for the nomination, the attacks are going to keep coming.”
DeSantis’ spokesman, Bryan Griffin, pushed back against the attacks by implying that Donald Trump was a failed President.
Griffin said DeSantis “has created a hunger among the public for the same successful conservative leadership across the nation.”
“There are talkers, and there are doers,” Griffin added. “Governor DeSantis is a doer.”
It’s clearly “game on” in the 2024 GOP Primary.
And Trump and DeSantis have both made it clear that they don’t plan to pull any punches.
