With national and early state polls showing Donald Trump far ahead of the rest of the field, speculation is turning to who Donald Trump will put on the ticket as his running mate.
Trump is preparing to hit the GOP with a big-time curveball.
And Donald Trump made a jaw-dropping hint about who he will pick for Vice President.
In a wide-ranging interview, The Blaze founder Glenn Beck asked Donald Trump if he would consider 38-year-old entrepreneur and rising GOP Presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy as his running mate.
Trump joked that he would of course consider Ramaswamy as his Vice President after he said during the first GOP Presidential debate that Donald Trump was the best President of the 21st Century.
“Well, I think he’s great. Look, anybody that said I’m the best President in a generation … I have to like a guy like that,” Trump began.
Trump is reportedly looking for two qualities in a running mate – the ability to perform well on television and loyalty to him and his agenda.
Ramaswamy checks both boxes.
Polls showed Ramaswamy was one of the big winners of the GOP debate due to his ability to command the stage and skillfully defend his America First agenda.
There is no candidate in the race more committed to Donald Trump’s agenda, as demonstrated by Ramaswamy being the only candidate on the debate stage to oppose more funding for Joe Biden’s war in Ukraine and instead use those military resources to secure America’s southern border.
Trump apparently took notice as evidenced by his comments to Beck.
“He’s a smart guy. He’s a young guy. He’s got a lot of talent. He’s a very, very, very intelligent person,” Trump stated. “He’s got good energy, and he could be in some form of something. I tell ya, I think he’d be very good. I think he’s really distinguished himself.”
Some polls showed Ramaswamy moving into second place due to the fact that he will accept any media interview and never back down in defending Trump from a weaponized justice system.
Trump even joked to Beck that he thought Ramaswamy needed to reign it in a bit at times.
“He’s starting to get out there a little bit. He’s getting a little bit controversial,” Trump added. “I got to tell him: ‘Be a little bit careful. Some things you have to hold in just a little bit, right?'”
Trump supporter Matt Gaetz suggested Ramaswamy as Trump’s chief of staff.
While it is unclear what role – if any – Ramaswamy would play in a potential second Trump administration, one thing is perfectly clear, and that is the fact that Ramaswamy has a bright future in GOP politics.
