Donald Trump ramped up his Cold War against Fox News Channel.
Trump is furious with what he views as the network’s biased coverage.
And Donald Trump revealed one fact about Fox News that was kept hidden for a reason.
After Trump turned himself in to Democrat authorities in Fulton County, Georgia, he granted his first interview to Newsmax’s Greg Kelly.
Under other circumstances, Trump would have called in to Fox News Channel and spoke with someone like Sean Hannity or Jesse Watters.
But there is barely contained hostility between Trump and Fox News, which reached new heights after he skipped the first GOP debate.
Without Trump, Fox News was only able to draw half the audience that watched the first debate in 2015 when he stood center stage.
During the interview, Trump explained how Fox News founder Rupert Murdoch has given up on Ron DeSantis despite the fact that he tried to use the network to push the Florida Governor as the vehicle for the Republican Party to dump Trump.
“Fox has now given up on him entirely, I think. They’re trying to find somebody else. They’re looking for somebody else,” Trump stated.
At one point in 2021, Fox News tried to book DeSantis 113 times over a four-month period.
But the New York Times and other outlets reported that Murdoch soured on DeSantis and is trying to woo Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin into the race as his new anti-Trump savior.
Trump pointed out that Fox News opposed him in the early days of the 2016 campaign as well.
Murdoch has always favored gun control and amnesty for illegal aliens, and Fox News was initially positioned as the pro-Jeb Bush network.
Trump told Kelly that Murdoch tried to call with his congratulations after they called the Presidency for him on election night, but said he made Murdoch wait to take calls from world leaders first.
“Just like in 2016, they fought me all the way, at the end they said, ‘Oh, we’d love to’— First phone call I got was from Murdoch, but the President of China was called first, and then I took other calls, and then I took Rupert. But Rupert’s not somebody that— he and I don’t get along very well,” Trump concluded.
