The damning evidence continues to leak out about the Secret Service.
But no one expected this bombshell from the agency’s leadership.

Acting Secret Service director admits to a disturbing decision about Trump’s protection
The near assassination of former President Donald Trump at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania was a top-to-bottom failure by the Secret Service.
Disturbing details have come out that point to serious problems with the embattled agency’s leadership.
Acting Secret Service director Ronald Rowe admitted at a press conference that the Butler rally was the first time that Trump had counter-snipers assigned to his security detail.
“It was the first time Secret Service counter-snipers were deployed to support the former President’s detail,” Rowe declared.
Rowe gave a vague answer as to why they were assigned to the Butler rally.
“With respect to why they were there in Butler, listen, we evaluate our threat landscape every day, we calibrate based on that threat, we evaluated a threat stream that we have, and we put our Secret Service counter-sniper personnel out there,” Rowe added.
He tried to pat himself on the back for the decision.
“And looking back, it was very fortunate that we did,” Rowe continued. “But the former President [and Trump’s running mate U.S. Senator JD Vance (R-OH)] will have counter-sniper coverage moving forward.”
A Secret Service counter-sniper took down the gunmen who shot Trump and three others at the rally.
Rowe had no explanation for how the gunman got on the roof of a building that was 130 yards away from Trump.
“This was a Secret Service failure,” Rowe said. “That roof line should have been covered.”
Trump’s security detail was denied requested counter-snipers
Counter-snipers are a crucial part of protecting a high-profile individual because of their ability to neutralize potential threats.
But Secret Service leadership denied requests by Trump’s security detail for counter-snipers and other resources for two years.
Secret Service Anthony Guglielmi put out a statement calling those claims flat-out untrue.
He said claims that Trump detail was denied “additional security resources that the U.S. Secret Service or the Department of Homeland Security rebuffed is absolutely false.”
But the agency was forced to walk back that claim after more evidence came out.
The Washington Post reported that four anonymous Secret Service agents told the outlet that Trump’s security detail asked for counter-snipers, more agents to screen rally attendees, and other resources that were denied.
Trump’s Secret Service detail was relying on state and local enforcement for counter-sniper duty.
Guglielmi was forced to put out a mealy-mouthed statement admitting the Secret Service had lied.
“In some instances where specific Secret Service specialized units or resources were not provided, the agency made modifications to ensure the security of the protectee,” Guglielmi said.
He claimed the agency coordinated with local law enforcement to fill in the gaps.
The Secret Service has tried to avoid accountability and hasn’t told the truth since the Trump shooting occurred.
It appears the agency thinks this is a scandal that it can wait out.
