His takeover of Twitter has uncovered just how deep the mistreatment of conservatives went.
And Elon Musk revealed one secret about Twitter the Deep State never wanted exposed.
The revelations coming out of the Twitter Files are nothing short of earth shattering.
And Elon Musk has more than lived up to the hype that surrounded his purchase of the social media giant.
Unfortunately, we now know that not only were conservatives targeted, but that targeting was done through collusion with the federal government.
Shadowbanning, suspending, and censoring of conservative accounts was worse than even the biggest Twitter critics feared.
Ominous-sounding Strategic Response Team served as the Twitter Gestapo
As revealed in one of the first batches of Twitter Files released by reporter Bari Weiss, a group was formed at Twitter known as the Strategic Response Team – Global Escalation Team (SRT-GET).
SRT-GET quickly became one of the main operations within Twitter tasked with shadowbanning conservative accounts and tweets on the platform.
This group of Twitter censors worked diligently to limit the reach of a large number of conservative accounts and at one point was shutting down or shadowbanning as many as 200 accounts per day.
It turns out Twitter has been shadow banning prominent conservative figures for years.
And in almost every case they did so without notifying them or explaining why.
The Federalist has previously reported, conservative commentators like Dan Bongino, Charlie Kirk, and The Federalist’s own CEO Sean Davis were among those placed on Twitter “blacklists” to prevent users from finding and seeing their profiles and Tweets.
Weiss revealed in her Tweets that, “What many people call ‘shadow banning,’ Twitter executives and employees call ‘Visibility Filtering.’”
Jack Dorsey is a liar
Twitter “used VF to block searches of individual users; to limit the scope of a particular tweet’s discoverability; to block select users’ posts from ever appearing on the ‘trending’ page; and from inclusion in hashtag searches.”
But the second release of more “Twitter Files” didn’t only demonstrate Twitter had been acting as a censorship arm for the Democrat Party for years.
The release also showed Twitter’s former CEO Jack Dorsey was a complete liar in regard to Twitter’s shadowbanning operations.
Dorsey, on multiple occasions, emphatically stated Twitter did not shadow ban users or any of their content based on political viewpoints.
In fact, during a 2018 Congressional hearing Dorsey was asked point blank by Congressman Mike Doyle (D-PA) if Twitter was censoring or shadowbanning prominent Republicans, to which Dorsey under oath stated, “No,” several times.
FBI and CIA operative in charge of the censorship storm troopers
We now also know that in addition to lying about the activities, Dorsey put FBI and CIA operatives in the mix.
In fact, the head of Twitter’s SRT-GET censorship politburo to shadowban conservative accounts and posts was once an operative for both the FBI and CIA.
Independent journalist Andy Ngo found the LinkedIn profile of Jeff Carlton who became a leader of Twitter’s SRT-GET team.
The LinkedIn profile, now shut down, also shows that Carlton previously served stints at both the FBI and CIA as well as time as a military intelligence officer.
Carlton’s LinkedIn profile stated that his role as SRT-GET head involved “resolving the highest-profile Trust & Safety escalations,” as well as managing “crises and non-standard incidents in content moderation and customer support to promote ‘healthy public conversations.’”
What that all boils down to is that a former U.S. intelligence officer was leading the group that censored and shadowbanned conservatives at one of the largest social media companies on the Internet.
We also know the FBI and DOJ were actively involved in the process as well, with as many as 80 FBI agents being part of the operation.
No wonder the Left is furious with Elon Musk’s revelations.
