Fani Willis got hit with this devastating reality check about her case against Trump

Sep 14, 2023

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is the latest Democrat prosecutor to indict Donald Trump.

But Willis made a major error.

And Fani Willis got hit with this devastating reality check about her case against Trump.

Willis is the one prosecutor who isn’t even pretending like she isn’t taking politics into account in her charges against Trump.

Willis charged Trump and 18 other co-defendants in a 41-count RICO case.

She recently moved to try all 19 co-defendants starting on October 23.

This came after Willis initially set a March 4, 2024, trial date for the case.

Of course, Donald Trump – as well as the vast majority of the other 18 co-defendants – never requested a speedy trial.

But Willis wants to rush this case to court so she can win a conviction before the 2024 General Election.

CNN legal analyst Elie Honig doused Willis’ plan to race to trial with an ocean of cold water.

Honig explained to viewers that there was no way this case could start in March of 2024, let alone October of this year, by pointing out that Willis’ office is already trying one RICO case and jury selection is in its seventh month.

“There is no planet on which this case will be tried in the next few months, due to the logjam that we just saw. Now we see all of these four different indictments, and they’re all jockeying for very limited trial space, but the D.A. has asked to try this in March,” Honig stated. “First of all, there is an ongoing racketeering trial right now that the D.A.’s office is handling in Georgia. They are still choosing a jury, they’re seven months in. I know that sounds unbelievable, but state jury selection is way slower than in federal cases.”

“So, even if they start in March, they’d still be picking a jury on Election Day, so that is not happening. I understand what the D.A. is doing, she’s doing what prosecutors are trained to do. You always say, ‘We are ready to go, any day; we want to try everyone all together,’ but March is not happening for this case,” Honig continued.

Defendants are entitled to adequate time to prepare a legal defense.

This is the interest that takes highest precedence in a criminal trial.

The fact that Willis wants the fastest trial schedule possible shows this case is really about politics and trying to help Joe Biden win in 2024.
