Fox News got rid of a popular host for this surprising reason

There are more changes on-air at Fox News Channel.

Viewers were left blindsided.

And Fox News got rid of a popular host for this surprising reason.

Dan Bongino – host of the popular Unfiltered and Canceled in the USA programs – is out at Fox News.

Bongino announced his departure on a recent edition of his podcast by saying he had no ill will towards Fox News and that Fox News did not fire him.

Instead, Bongino said his departure stemmed from an inability to agree to terms on a contract extension.

“Folks, regretfully, last week was my last show on Fox News on the Fox News Channel,” Bongino told listeners. “So the show ending last week was tough. And I want you to know it’s not some big conspiracy. I promise you. There’s not, there’s no acrimony. This wasn’t some, like, WWE brawl that happened. We just couldn’t come to terms on an extension. And that’s really it.”

“We thank Dan for his contributions and wish him success in his future endeavors,” Fox News wrote in a statement thanking Bongino for his time at the network and wishing him well on his next projects.

Bongino – who once served on Barack Obama’s Secret Service detail and hosts one of the most popular podcasts in America – wanted his audience to make sure it understood that it was really his decision to leave and that Fox News never once pressured him on editorial content or wanted him gone.

“I really enjoyed myself there and you know they were good to me for ten years. I mean they allowed me to do a show called Unfiltered, did what we wanted to do over there and covered the topics we wanted to cover. And it’s a sad day. It’s a sad day,” he said. “They did give me the opportunity to do one last show. I don’t want you to think they showed me the door, that’s on me, not on them. But I just thought it was best to kind of go this way for now. Like I said, it’s not acrimonious. I have a great team over there.”

Bongino knew the timing would strike many as odd and make it seem like Fox News was scapegoating him for the record $787 million settlement payment to Dominion Voting Systems as part of a defamation suit stemming from the 2020 election.

But Bongino was never named in that suit and his departure appears to be an unhappy coincidence.
