Disney is trying to regain the magic touch that turned them into an entertainment giant.
The company’s dream of a turnaround went up in smoke.
And Greg Gutfeld put Disney on notice after their latest woke movie disaster.
Disney‘s Marvel Cinematic Universe is one of the most popular movie franchises of the century and was once a reliable generator of box office blockbusters.
Starting in 2008, the comic book film series has churned out 33 movies that have raked in more than $30 billion at the box office worldwide.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe fell victim to wokeness like the rest of Disney’s entertainment empire.
The latest movie in the franchise, The Marvels, turned in the worst box office opening for a film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe ever at $47 million, according to studio estimates.
Marvel was Disney’s most reliable hitmaker, but the franchise is losing its luster with audiences.
Critics panned the movie, which was lauded by the media for having three women as its stars and a black woman as the Director.
Associated Press film critic Lindsey Bahr scolded the film following the recent Marvel formula of “pandering” with female characters.
“As is often the case with Marvel’s girl power attempts, it feels a little pandering in all the wrong places and doesn’t really engage with any specific or unique female point of view,” Bahr wrote.
The Irish Times’ Donald Clarke called the film a “solid contender for the worst Marvel film yet.”
“To say The Marvels is hard to watch would be to risk understatement,” Clarke said. “It’s not just that it’s not very good. It is hard to watch in the sense that a tree is hard to defibrillate.”
Marvel went woke, and now the once dominant film franchise has lost its way.
Greg Gutfeld tells Disney that audiences don’t want woke movies
Fox News host Greg Gutfeld said that Disney is ignoring what audiences want by making increasingly woke movies.
“The new flick is courtesy of Disney, who owns the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the real marvel is how each movie they put out is getting worse and worse,” Gutfeld wrote. “The next superhero should be The Incredible Shrinking Box Office, because their latest offering, The Marvels, was the worst opening for a Marvel movie ever, even worse than Iron Man versus Little Women.”
Disney has been plagued with a series of high-profile box bombs across all divisions of its movie business.
“But today, entertainment is now secondary to diversity and every cast must be as colorful as a bag of peanut M&Ms and twice as nutty,” Gutfeld added. “Have they finally realized that most of us would rather be dry shaved with a cheese grater than spend 25 bucks being scolded by a virtue-signaling cartoon?”
The Marvels stars outspoken feminist Brie Larson in the lead role.
“It’s so bad the theaters are making grief counselors available to viewers after the film,” Gutfeld quipped. “It stars the ultra-woke Brie Larson, who’s never made a movie you’ve seen, and she stinks so bad her first name shouldn’t be Brie, it should be Limburger.”
Gutfeld added that a “root canal and IRS audit” would be a better way to spend the day than watching the movie.
The collapse of the once invincible Marvel franchise is the latest headache for Disney after going woke.
