Americans are living through one of the biggest and perhaps most important political rivalries in history.
Adams versus Jefferson, Lincoln versus Douglas, Cleveland versus Harrison, Eisenhower versus Stevenson, Kennedy versus Johnson – none of them measure up to Trump versus Biden.
And after all of Joe Biden’s tough talk during his hate-filled “Soul of a Nation” speech, it took Donald Trump just one sentence to send the President crying to the corner.
Biden declared war on half of the country
With a blood-red and black background and two marines flanking him, President Joe Biden gave perhaps his most important speech of his Presidency looking as though he was performing in front of the gates of hell itself.
That is unless you watched on CNN – as the cable news network changed the coloring to more of a vibrant magenta.
His prime-time “Soul of a Nation” speech was supposed to “unify” a divided republic.
Instead, the President of the United States labeled the 75 million Americans who voted for his opponent in the controversial 2020 election an enemy of democracy.
“There’s no question that the Republican Party today is dominated, driven, and intimidated by Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans,” President Biden said.
Biden gaslighted the nation during his “unity” speech
His wrathful rhetoric went on for about 25-minutes, filled with lies and propaganda meant to rally his base to vote in the 2022 Midterms just two months away.
“MAGA forces are determined to take this country backwards,” Biden said. “Backwards to an America where there is no right to choose, no right to privacy, no right to contraception, no right to marry who you love.”
None of that is true.
The President teetered on a call-to-action against Trump supporters when he said in his address, “MAGA Republicans . . . pose a clear and present danger.”
“It’s in our hands, yours and mine, to stop the assault on American democracy,” Biden added.
The irony was Biden was claiming to defend democracy while trying to rally the nation against his political opposition.
Trump is fighting back
It didn’t take long for the 45th President of the United States to respond to the accusations from the 46th.
“If you look at the words and meaning of the awkward and angry Biden speech tonight, he threatened America, including with the possible use of military force,” Trump posted on his Truth Social platform. “He must be insane, or suffering from late-stage dementia!”
The former President also questioned if the sitting President even knows what “MAGA” means.
“Someone should explain to Joe Biden, slowly but passionately, that MAGA means, as powerfully as mere words can get, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN,” Trump posted. “If he doesn’t want to Make America Great Again, which through words, action, and thought, he doesn’t, then he certainly should not be representing the United States of America!”
The former President understands a picture is worth 1,000 words and knows how bad the optics of Biden’s attack speech disguised as “unity” were.
To magnify that, Trump posted a picture comparing his approach to Biden’s.
Despite polling suggesting voters – even ones in his own party – don’t want him to, President Biden has said he plans to run for re-election in 2024.
Former President Trump has not officially announced any plans on a third run for the White House, but he has certainly hinted as much.
That means in 2024, American voters could be looking at a Trump vs. Biden rematch.
Grover Cleveland is currently the only person to serve two non-consecutive terms as President of the United States.
