Joe Biden is preparing to make one 2024 announcement that will leave Democrats in despair

Apr 21, 2023

Democrats spent months fretting about Joe Biden’s 2024 re-election campaign.

Party leaders worried that if Biden did not run, then Kamala Harris – who is next in line – is a surefire loser against Donald Trump.

And now, Joe Biden is preparing to make one 2024 announcement that will leave Democrats in despair.

After months of kicking the can down the road to delay a final decision, Joe Biden is reportedly set to launch his re-election campaign with a video timed for the four-year anniversary of when he announced his 2020 White House bid.

The Washington Post reports:

President Biden and his team are preparing to announce his reelection campaign next week, with aides finalizing plans to release a video for the president to officially launch his campaign, according to three people briefed on the plans.

Biden and his aides have targeted Tuesday for the release of the video to coincide with the four-year anniversary of his 2020 campaign launch. The people briefed on the plans, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss private deliberations, cautioned that the official announcement could be delayed.

But Biden announcing he intends to seek a second term comes at a perilous moment for the Democrat Party as a whole.

Brand new Wall Street Journal and Associated Press polls both show Joe Biden sitting with a sickly 42 percent approval rating.

The Wall Street Journal poll also finds Florida Governor Ron DeSantis leading Biden by three points, 48 to 45 percent.

And the Associated Press poll found a distinct lack of enthusiasm for Biden running in 2024 based on his age.

Jenipher Lagama told the AP that “my problem with him running in 2024 is that he’s just so old.”

Lagana added that “I would love to see somebody younger, like (Transportation Secretary Pete) Buttigieg or (California Gov. Gavin) Newsom be able to get in there and handle things maybe a little differently just because they’re a younger person.”

“I voted for him. I like him as a person. I like him as a leader for the country,” 48-year-old Donna Stewart explained. “However, I just feel that he’s still lacking the up-to-date knowledge of what needs to be done.”

Democrats are stuck in a trap with Joe Biden.

Polls show he is likely to lose to either Donald Trump or Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

But while Democrats think Biden will lose to the Republican candidate, top officials fear an open Primary that could tear the Party apart as they try to take the nomination away from the completely unelectable Joe Biden.
