Joe Biden’s re-election campaign is on the verge of a major embarrassment.
Biden was warned repeatedly this could happen.
And Joe Biden just got the shock of his life when this Democrat made a big 2024 decision.
After months of dropping hints that he would challenge Joe Biden in the 2024 Democrat Presidential Primary, Minnesota Congressman Dean Phillips is set to make it official on October 27 in New Hampshire.
“Rep. Dean Phillips has begun signaling to fellow House members that he plans to launch a challenge to President Joe Biden,” POLITICO reported.
“Two people familiar with the discussions said that the Minnesota Democrat has told some colleagues of his intent to run, though a third person who has talked to Phillips recently said he had demurred when asked. That person said Phillips was clearly considering it but when asked point blank whether he was running, replied: ‘We’ll see,’” POLITICO also reported.
A recent CNN poll found 73 percent of voters think Biden is too old to finish another term, at the conclusion of which he would be 86 years old.
Multiple other polls show upwards of 70 percent of Democrats would like another option in 2024.
After months of criticizing the idea of Biden running again, Phillips is now willing to make it official.
And it’s not surprising Phillips decided to make his stand in New Hampshire.
First, New Hampshire allows Independents to vote in Presidential Primaries.
Second, Joe Biden is not appearing on the ballot in the Granite State in accordance with the new Primary calendar cooked up by the Democrat National Committee, which put South Carolina first.
Democrats scheduled South Carolina as the kickoff Primary, believing the state’s large black population would scare off any would-be challengers to Biden.
But New Hampshire is keeping its “First in the Nation” status by running an unsanctioned Primary.
Joe Biden’s supporters plan to organize a write-in campaign for him.
Biden annoyed Democrats in the state by refusing to maintain New Hampshire’s status at the top of the Primary calendar.
And now Biden faces the prospect of becoming the first sitting President since Jimmy Carter to lose a Primary, as Democrats who don’t want Biden as their candidate have an outlet to vent.
