John Fetterman made one confession about Donald Trump that left Democrats scared

John Fetterman represents the crucial swing state of Pennsylvania.

He’s got a finger on the pulse of his home state.

And John Fetterman made one confession about Donald Trump that left Democrats scared.

John Fetterman disagrees with Democrats on Donald Trump

U.S. Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) marches to the beat of his drum since he suffered a near-fatal stroke in 2022.

He’s been willing to break with Democrats on some of the groupthink that’s overtaken his party.

Fetterman appeared at the 2024 Atlantic Festival, where he told The Atlantic editor-in-chief, Jeffrey Goldberg, that he disagreed with how his party branded former President Donald Trump a convicted felon.

Democrats thought that calling Trump a convicted felon would be politically damaging, but the attack turned out to be a dud.

“I never agreed with our approach talking about how he’s a convicted felon,” Fetterman said. “I mean, I thought Democrats, we were the party that was all about second chances and that we’re not going to condemn somebody based on mistakes or things in that kind of situation.”

Fetterman marveled at what Trump has gone through.

“And I was convinced, too, that those kinds of trials – it’s not gonna have an impact on that,” Fetterman continued. “It’s like, what’s left? He’s been impeached twice. Now, it’s been two attempted assassinations – one where a bullet actually hit him.”

Fetterman warns Trump has a special connection to Pennsylvania

Trump was shot during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13.

Fetterman said that Trump had built a bond with residents of the state after the assassination attempt against him.

“I also want people to understand, you know, and it’s not science, but there is, there is energy and there is kinds of anger on the ground in Pennsylvania, and people are very committed and – Trump is gonna be strong and we have to respect that,” Fetterman explained.

The Pennsylvania lawmaker has been warning Democrats for a while about the strength Trump has in his home state.

“You can’t even understand it and it’s not like a science that can explain it but you just have to know that it’s real,” Fetterman stated.

Fetterman later in the interview said that Trump signs were beginning to spring up all over Pennsylvania.

“You see that everywhere,” Fetterman said. “Trump has created a special kind of a hold . . . and he’s remade the party and he has a special kind of place in Pennsylvania. I think that only deepened after that first assassination attempt.”

Polls out of Pennsylvania show that the state is in a statistical dead heat between the two Presidential candidates.

Fetterman warned Democrats not to get overconfident and pointed to Hillary Clinton’s loss in Pennsylvania in the 2016 Election.

“Everybody thought that it was in the bag, but that’s not the energy and the other kinds of things that were really consistent with what I’m witnessing all across,” Fetterman stated. “And then, sadly, we saw what happened.”

Pennsylvania is the most important swing state in this election.

And John Fetterman senses there could be trouble for Democrats in the state.
