Marjorie Taylor Greene gave the establishment a brutal reality check about Laken Riley

Mar 4, 2024

The murder of nursing student Laken Riley by an illegal alien shocked the nation.

The fallout from the tragedy caused by Biden’s failed immigration policy is beginning.

And Marjorie Taylor Greene gave the establishment a brutal reality check about Laken Riley.

The country was once again reminded of the tragic cost of illegal immigration when nursing student Laken Riley was murdered by Jose Ibarra, an illegal alien from Venezuela, while going on a run in Athens, Georgia.

Ibarra entered the country illegally through the southern border in 2022 and was granted parole by federal authorities, who let him loose into the interior of the country.

President Joe Biden has weaponized his immigration parole authority to release over one million illegal aliens into the country.

Ibarra eventually made his way to New York City, where U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) said he was “charged with acting in a manner to injure a child less than 17 and a motor vehicle license violation.”

Typically, an illegal alien arrested on criminal charges is held on a detainer placed by ICE until the agency can take custody of them and begin the process of expelling them from the country.

But since New York City is a sanctuary city, the cooperation between the New York Police Department and ICE was severed.

Ibarra was let back out on the streets and eventually made his way to Georgia, where he is suspected of murdering Riley.

Laken Riley’s murder was a tragedy created by Biden’s open borders agenda and New York City’s sanctuary laws.

Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) calls out Georgia for not cracking down on sanctuary cities

Sanctuary cities are illegal in Georgia, but Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) accused Republicans in the state of not doing enough to enforce the ban on them.

Laken Riley attended nursing school at Augusta University in Athens, Georgia, which is also home to the University of Georgia.

Athens is the typical Democrat-controlled college town.

Even though sanctuary cities are illegal in Georgia, Athens introduced a law in 2019 that welcomed illegal aliens.

The college town has been accused of being a de facto sanctuary city by looking the other way on illegal immigration.

In an interview with Just the News, Greene said that Georgia Republicans need to stop blaming Biden and start enforcing the anti-sanctuary city law on the books.

“Here in Georgia, I’ve gotten really tired of watching my Georgia Republicans here and in our state, pointing the finger at the Biden administration,” Greene said. “In the state of Georgia, we have a Republican Governor, we have a Republican state legislature, and we have a Republican Attorney General.”

Republicans need to step up and stop sanctuary cities

“And the fact that they passed a law years ago that we do not have sanctuary cities here in the state of Georgia,” Greene said. “But at the same time, these same Republicans have turned their heads and ignored the fact that Democrat-run cities like Athens and the city of Atlanta do harbor illegal aliens and they choose to not prosecute them.”

Joe Biden created the border crisis, but Republicans need to do everything in their power to crack down on magnets for illegal aliens, like sanctuary cities in their states.
