Mark Cuban is one of Kamala Harris’ most outspoken supporters.
The former NBA owner and Shark Tank star isn’t afraid to mix it up.
And Mark Cuban went on Fox News to start this major fight with Donald Trump.
Mark Cuban attacks Donald Trump’s economic policies
CNN was the latest poll to show voters trust Donald Trump more on the economy than Kamala Harris.
50 percent of voters said they favored Trump on the economy compared to just 39 percent who said the same about Kamala Harris.
This drives Kamala Harris supporters like Mark Cuban insane because they can’t bring themselves to admit that Donald Trump presided over an economic boom from 2017 to 2019 that the American people grew nostalgic for thanks to the crushing inflation that Kamala Harris’ policies brought about.
Cuban showed up on Neil Cavuto’s Fox News show to baselessly claim that it was Donald Trump who would bring about inflation in the next four years thanks to his support for tariffs.
“Well, first of all, strategic tariffs aren’t bad. So if a country is trying to dump in the United States and we have a manufacturer there, tariff them. That’s great. But across-the-board tariffs [of] 10 or 20% is just inflationary,” Cuban began.
Cuban argued a tariff was a tax on the consumer and argued Trump’s tariffs wouldn’t work.
“It’s a tax on the American consumer. But to make matters even worse, what’s truly insane, when you threaten a legendary company like John Deere with a 200% tariff if they move, but only a 10 or 20% tariff on China, what you’re doing is you’re making it easy for the Chinese competitors to take business away from John Deere. That is the definition of insane,” Cuban added.
What Cuban left is that Trump’s proposed tariffs for John Deere are a negotiating tactic.
John Deere wants to close two manufacturing plants in America and ship hundreds of jobs to Mexico.
Trump’s proposed tariffs are a carrot and stick approach where the tariffs only come into play if companies outsource good American jobs overseas.
Companies that manufacture their goods in America would see their corporate tax rate slashed to 15%.
Cuban stumped on support for Kamala Harris
Cavuto turned the tables and asked Cuban about his colleagues – such as Shark Tank co-star Kevin O’Leary – who think any businessman would have to be “insane “ to back Kamala Harris because of her support for price controls and a tax on unrealized gains.
“A lot of your business colleagues say the definition of insane is supporting Kamala Harris. Yet you do. You’re a smart, savvy businessman. You came from nothing to be a multibillionaire, so you’re pretty good at what you do. What do you see in her that you don’t see in Donald Trump?” Cavuto asked.
Cuban – who previously admitted that Kamala Harris’ plan to tax unrealized gains would “destroy” the stock market – tried to claim Kamala Harris spoke in precise language about her economic policies.
“I think she’s thorough. If you look at Donald, when he talks about his policies, they’re very impetuous. They’re impulsive. They’re, you know, set to match whatever is happening at a rally. Whereas with the Harris campaign and Kamala herself, she’s very thorough,” Cuban added.
“She’s very precise. Her team really vets every idea. And to me, that’s important as a businessperson because you can trust what she says. Think about what happens when Donald comes out and says, I’m going to put a 10% cap on credit card interest rates. The next thing that happens isn’t that he explains why,” Cuban continued.
Kamala Harris may be many things.
But a precise and deep thinker on economic policies isn’t one of them.
Ruhle: "One could watch and say she didn't give a clear and direct answer. And that's okay, because we're not talking about clear and direct issues."
