Megan Rapinoe was the woke face of failure this year for the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team.
Rapinoe became a hero of the Left in 2019 for fighting with Donald Trump.
But Megan Rapinoe just called Donald Trump one word that instantly blew up in her face.
The U.S. Women’s quest for a third straight World Cup title ended in defeat after they lost to Sweden on penalty kicks.
Rapinoe missed a penalty that would have clinched the game.
However, many Americans celebrated the defeat since they were sick and tired of the woke political activists – like Rapinoe – who dominated the team over the last four years.
Donald Trump was among the millions of Americans who thought the team – who kneeled for the National Anthem in 2020 and then refused to sing the Star-Spangled Banner in this World Cup – got what they deserved since they seemed to care more about political virtue signaling than winning the World Cup.
“The ‘shocking and totally unexpected’ loss by the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team to Sweden is fully emblematic of what is happening to our once great Nation under Crooked Joe Biden. Many of our players were openly hostile to America – No other country behaved in such a manner, or even close. WOKE EQUALS FAILURE. Nice shot Megan, the USA is going to Hell!!! MAGA,” Trump posted on Truth Social.
Rapinoe – who retired from competition following the World Cup – blasted critics like Trump as “fake.”
“I think, just in general, the way that our team was spoken about over the course of the tournament, it was fake. And it didn’t make sense to me: In 2019, we were ultra-confident, ultra-swaggy — and won everything. And even though we won, we did it in bad taste, according to our critics,” Rapinoe ranted.
“This time, we weren’t confident enough, and we don’t have the right ‘mentality.’ And so we lost. It’s just so disingenuous. There’s no way for us to win, and there’s no way for us to lose,” Rapinoe added.
Rapinoe – who spoke out in favor of allowing biological males to play women’s sports – set the highly political tone for the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team.
With Rapinoe retiring, it could allow the women’s soccer program to reboot, get back to the basics of the play on the field, and put politics aside.
