Mike Pence is facing one tragic choice that could end his career for good

Feb 10, 2023

Mike Pence is planning to announce he is running for President in the coming months.

But now Pence’s plans may have just imploded.

And Mike Pence is facing one tragic choice that could end his career for good.

Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed anti-Republican prosecutor Jack Smith as special counsel in the witch hunts against Donald Trump.

Smith’s goal is to charge Trump with seditious conspiracy for trying to overturn the 2020 election.

It doesn’t even matter if Smith can win a conviction or not.

The goal is to bring charges and tar Trump with another manufactured scandal to push Republican voters to abandon Donald Trump in the 2024 GOP primary.

Now Mike Pence is involved in this scheme.

Smith subpoenaed Pence for testimony and documents about his interactions with Trump in the run up to January 6.

ABC News exclusively reported:

Former Vice President Mike Pence has been subpoenaed by the special counsel overseeing probes into former President Donald Trump, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter.

Sources told ABC News that the subpoena from special counsel Jack Smith requests documents and testimony related to the failed attempt by Trump and his allies to overturn the 2020 election, which culminated in the deadly Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

The subpoena follows months of negotiations between federal prosecutors and Pence’s legal team.

During this time, Trump claimed Pence could reject certified Electoral College results and return the election to the states.

Pence could not do that as his role was merely ceremonial.

Smith wants to claim Pence faced an illegal pressure campaign that Trump knew was unconstitutional so Smith can indict Trump on seditious conspiracy charges.

But Smith needs Pence’s help to make his case.

However, as a former Vice President Pence could still assert claims of executive privilege.

The January 6 Committee never subpoenaed Pence over fears the committee would lose on the grounds of separation of powers as there was no clear legal precedent for this fight.

The same holds true for this case.

A special counsel never subpoenaed a former Vice President for his interactions with the President.

No one knows how the court would ultimately rule.

But if Mike Pence voluntarily cooperates with this subpoena it will snuff out whatever slim chance Pence had of being taken seriously as a GOP Presidential candidate.
