At the ripe age of 83, Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) recently announced her plans to run for re-election in 2024.
Pelosi has been doing the usual media rounds since making the announcement.
And Nancy Pelosi just dodged this one important question on national television.
Pelosi avoids answering questions about Kamala Harris
Nancy Pelosi made an appearance on CNN for an interview with Anderson Cooper.
During the interview, Cooper asked Pelosi if she thought Vice President Kamala Harris was the best choice to continue serving as Joe Biden’s running mate in the upcoming 2024 election.
But Pelosi’s answer was certainly not a straight, get-to-the-point one.
“He thinks so and that’s what matters,” Pelosi replied. “She’s the Vice President of the United States. And when people say to me, ‘Well, why isn’t she doing this or that?’ I say, ‘Because she’s the Vice President. That’s the job description. You don’t do that much.”
Not long after Biden took office, he handed the job of addressing the illegal immigration crisis at the southern border over to Harris.
However, Harris has mostly steered clear of the illegal alien issue, and she tries to stay out of the spotlight as much as possible.
Meanwhile, the number of illegal border crossings has broken records multiple times since Biden took office.
Harris’ decision to lay low is not doing her any favors, as recent polling data found that most Americans view her in a negative light.
An NBC News survey conducted this past July found that Harris was the least popular Vice President in recent U.S. history.
For Pelosi’s part, she did say that Harris was “politically astute” and that she doesn’t get the credit she deserves.
“Why would she be Vice President if she were not?” Pelosi asked.
Nancy Pelosi then said the main role of the Vice President is to serve as an “intellectual resource.”
“You know, you know, you’re a source of strength, inspiration, intellectual resource, and the rest. And you, and she, I think she’s represented our country very well at home and abroad,” Pelosi expounded.
Aside from the immigration chaos, Biden put Harris in charge of leading the way on several issues like violence, poverty, corruption, and climate change, all of which the administration believes are fueling the illegal immigration problem.
Pelosi also talks McCarthy
Nancy Pelosi also had a few things to say about the current situation with Speaker Kevin McCarthy and his bid to begin impeachment proceedings.
The House is currently dealing with a potential impeachment trial while also facing a wide range of crucial bills on the floor.
“I think that is really more of a matter of politics of the Republican caucus,” she said about the impeachment.
“This is not responsible governance. But it’s the chaos on the Republican side,” Pelosi concluded.
