California Democrat Senator Dianne Feinstein is finally back at work after battling an illness.
Some Democrats are concerned about her obvious physical and mental limitations.
But, Nancy Pelosi just got caught using her daughter in a twisted plot to stop Dianne Feinstein from resigning.
There is almost no one left in Washington, D.C. who thinks Senator Dianne Feinstein can represent the people of California as their U.S. Senator.
A head-scratching return to the Senate
Senator Dianne Feinstein’s (D-CA) much anticipated return to the U.S. Senate made international headlines.
But most of the headlines were for very unfortunate reasons.
Not only was her condition far worse than first reported, but Feinstein also appeared completely unaware of where she was when she returned to Washington, D.C.
Then, to make matters worse, Feinstein apparently forgot that she had been absent from the Senate for the past few months.
In fact, the elderly and frail Senator got into a feisty exchange after she claimed that she had never been absent from the Senate.
This bizarre behavior has many Democrats demanding the Senator resign immediately and be replaced with someone capable of doing the job.
But for one Democrat, resignation is not an option.
Pelosi condemns calls for Feinstein’s resignation
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has repeatedly condemned all demands that the 89-year-old Feinstein resign from her seat.
“I’ve never seen them go after a man who was sick in the Senate,” Pelosi said last month after several key Democrat lawmakers called on Feinstein to resign.
Of course, Pelosi apparently forgot about all the past calls for long serving and clearly feeble members to resign.
Pelosi also seemingly hasn’t been paying attention to calls for Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman to resign due to mental issues.
And according to a report from Politico, Pelosi may not have Feinstein’s best interests in mind.
When Feinstein returned to the Senate last week after a months-long battle with shingles that we now know was far worse than her office first admitted, one of the people by her side was Nancy Corinne Prowda.
Prowda is Nancy Pelosi’s eldest child and has remained close to Feinstein since her return to the Senate.
The arrangement could be simply Pelosi’s desire to care for her longtime friend.
AFter all, Pelosi and Feinstein came up together in San Francisco politics.
Uncomfortable questions about Pelosi
But according to Politico’s Playbook, the arrangement has more to do with Pelosi’s politics than anything else.
As Politico reported, the arrangement with Pelosi’s daughter and Feinstein “has also raised uncomfortable questions about whether Nancy Pelosi’s political interests are in conflict with Feinstein’s personal interests.”
The problem for Pelosi is that she has endorsed Congressman Adam Schiff (D-CA) to succeed Feinstein after her retirement in 2024.
But if Feinstein resigns, Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom would pick her replacement until next year’s election.
Newsom has stated that he would appoint a black woman to fill the seat.
That means he almost certainly would appoint Congresswoman Barbara Lee (D-CA), who is also running for Feinstein’s seat.
And in that scenario, Lee would have a huge advantage on Schiff going into the 2024 elections.
As one Pelosi family insider told Politico, “if DiFi resigns right now, there is an enormous probability that Barbara Lee gets appointed — thus, it makes it harder for Schiff.”
“It’s very tricky, and political, because they want her to stay,” the source said. “The political thinking is that if DiFi stays as long as possible, it helps Schiff as well.”
It seems the former Speaker is still trying to amass more power and will even abuse her sick friends if that’s what it takes.
