Nikki Haley is ramping up her campaign to be the anti-Trump alternative to Donald Trump.
But now Haley has a lot to answer for.
And Nikki Haley heard one name that just sent a chill down her spine.
Haley planted the flag in this race as the most aggressive supporter of the blank check to fund the war in Ukraine.
During the last GOP debate, Vivek Ramaswamy mocked Haley as Dick Cheney in heels over her support for the Cheney/John McCain foreign policy.
Ramaswamy had no idea how truly right he was.
A new CNN/University of New Hampshire poll found Donald Trump growing his support to 42 percent – up from 39 percent in the last poll.
The media continues to try and pretend there is a GOP Primary going on by hyping up the fact that Nikki Haley now only trails Trump by 22 points and that her support hit 20 percent in the Granite State.
But the internal numbers on the poll show that Haley is consolidating the support of left-leaning Independents who are able to vote in New Hampshire’s Primary but otherwise aren’t a factor in the GOP Primary.
MSNBC data guru Steve Kornacki noted that Trump wins the support of 55% of registered Republicans in this poll, whereas Haley only pulls 18% of actual Republicans.
Haley’s base of support are Independents who give her 28 percent of the vote.
Meaning: she (+ Christie) is doing much better w/ independent/non-GOP voters (who play an unusually big role in NH) than with R's:
Self-ID'd R voters:
Trump 55%
Haley 18%
DeSantis 12%
Christie 6%Independents/Dems
Christie 37%
Haley 28%
Ramaswamy 18%
Trump 7%
DeSantis 5%— Steve Kornacki (@SteveKornacki) November 16, 2023
Kornacki compared this to the “overall dynamics reminiscent of W/McCain ’00.”
In that 2000 race, John McCain scored an upset win over George W. Bush in New Hampshire by winning 60 percent of the Independent vote.
But Bush smoked McCain once the race moved to Primaries, where only registered Republicans could vote.
In that race, McCain called social conservatives “agents of intolerance.”
Haley has charted a similar course in this campaign by attacking Pro-Life activists as extremists and demanding the GOP embrace a pro-abortion position.
Nikki Haley is showing her true self in this campaign, and it’s a John McCain-style RINO.
