With Joe Biden’s poll numbers sinking and the effort to weaponize the justice system against Trump floundering, Democrats are waging war on democracy on a new front.
This is the break glass in case of an emergency plan.
And one key swing state is about to kick Trump off the ballot for this unspeakable reason.
The fundamental principle of democracy is that voters have the final say on who their leaders are.
But an increasingly deranged Left is trying to rip that right away from the American people.
With polls showing Donald Trump can defeat Joe Biden, a growing number of so-called “legal scholars” are pushing a fringe theory that Section 3 of the 14th Amendment bars Donald Trump from serving as President again.
Congress ratified the 14th Amendment after the Civil War, and Section 3 – which bans former Confederate officers from holding office again, reads:
No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.
The Amendment never defines who determines what constitutes an insurrection or rebellion or how the ban gets enforced.
Not even Democrat prosecutors charged Trump with incitement or insurrection.
But nevertheless, Democrats are now contemplating kicking Trump off the ballot by using this novel legal theory.
Arizona’s Democrat Secretary of State Adrian Fontes told NBC News he was taking the legal challenges to Trump’s eligibility seriously and urged others to quickly bring lawsuits forward to kick Trump off the ballot.
“We have to have a final certification of eligible candidates [for the primary ballot] by December 14 for Arizona’s Presidential preference election,” Fontes stated. “And because this will ultimately end up in court, we are taking this very seriously.”
“We need to run an election,” Fontes added. “We need to know who is eligible, and this is of incredible national interest. We aren’t taking a position one way or the other.”
“If there are people who want to fight this out, they need to start swinging, because I have an election to run,” Fontes continued.
If Democrats don’t think Joe Biden can beat Donald Trump straight up in an election, it looks like their backup plan is to ban him from enough swing state ballots to allow Democrats to control the election machinery and make it impossible for him to win 270 Electoral College votes.
