Paul Ryan was utterly humiliated after this meltdown about Donald Trump

The Republican establishment is furious that they can’t loosen Donald Trump’s grip on the Party.

One establishment figure’s rage boiled over about the state of the GOP.

And Paul Ryan was utterly humiliated after this meltdown about Donald Trump.

Former Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R-WI) reemerged from the depths of Washington, D.C.’s Swamp to rage about former President Donald Trump in an interview with the Washington Post.

The failed 2012 Vice Presidential candidate whined that “Trump populism” had taken over the Republican Party and laughably claimed that the former President had become the “establishment.”

“I am in the minority of my Party right now. I’m not in the establishment. I’m frankly an anti-establishment Republican. And you, I think you can safely argue — I don’t enjoy acknowledging this — that Trump is the establishment and Trump populism is the establishment and that Trump populism is this more isolationist strain that I think is wrong and dangerous and I don’t support, but that does represent a large swath of Republican voters,” Ryan stated.

No serious person believes that Donald Trump is the Republican establishment.

Ryan is furious that his brand of Republican politics – open borders, bad trade deals, and endless foreign wars – has been rejected by most of the Party.

He took aim at former Fox News host Tucker Carlson for having the audacity to commit an act of journalism by interviewing Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“That was astounding to me. You know, that one takes the cake, frankly,” Ryan said about Carlson’s interview with Putin.

Ryan and the elected Republican establishment in the Senate are seething that House Republicans blocked their top political priority of funneling more taxpayer money to the war in Ukraine.

“What worries me more, not just Tucker, that’s a symptom of all this, is that they’re curating sympathy in America,” Ryan ranted. “And they’re, they’re helping nurture and develop an isolationist wing, in my Party and in our country, which I think is very, very dangerous.”

The former Speaker and the GOP establishment believe the most pressing priority in the country is spending more money on securing Ukraine’s border while ignoring America’s historic border crisis.

“They’re developing, you know, people who want to see NATO reduced or NATO not adhered to, obviously, former President Trump is pushing this line as well. So what I very much worry about is they’re helping curate a line of thought — a school of thought that is isolationist, that is pro-Putin, pro-Russia, pro-tyranny at the end of the day, and that is extremely dangerous for all democracy, but for us as ourselves democracy,” Ryan continued.

The establishment melted down when Trump demanded that European NATO members pay their required share of defense spending for the alliance.

If NATO members truly believed that Russia was a threat to their national security, then they would have no problem ponying up more money for defense spending.

The Republican establishment is enraged that they are no longer steering the ship for the GOP.
