Joe Biden staged a surprise visit to Ukraine to pose for pictures with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy one year into his reckless proxy war with Russia.
The administration tried to claim this was a strategic master stroke.
“He was excited about making the trip. I think he felt it was really important to stand up next to President Zelenskyy and speak the way that he did today,” National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan told reporters.
“[He] felt he had an important mission to undertake, and he was eager to do it,” Sullivan continued.
White House Communications Director Kate Bedingfield claimed Biden’s trip was important to show his commitment to Ukraine.
“This was a risk that Joe Biden wanted to take. It’s important to him to show up, even when it’s hard, and he directed his team to make it happen, no matter how challenging the logistics,” Bedingfield stated.
“He wanted to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with President Zelensky and remind the world, as we approach the one-year anniversary of the invasion, that Kyiv still stands and the United States will not be deterred from standing with Ukraine,” Bedingfield added.
Joe Biden has now visited a war zone in Ukraine the same number of times – one – as he has America’s southern border.
In an interview on Fox and Friends, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis slammed Biden for his preoccupation with Ukraine’s border while ignoring the crisis he created here in America.
“He’s very concerned about those borders halfway around the world. He’s not done anything to secure our own borders here at home,” DeSantis began.
DeSantis ticked off the growing list of problems developing in America that Biden is ignoring while he galivants around the globe to show solidarity with the Ukrainians.
“We’ve had millions and millions of people pour in, tens of thousands of Americans dead because of fentanyl, and then of course we just suffered a national humiliation of having China fly a spy balloon clear across continental United States,” DeSantis continued. “So we have a lot of problems accumulating here in our own country that he is neglecting.”
Biden also has not visited East Palestine, Ohio, where a trail derailment spilled toxic chemicals into the air and water supply.
