Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is running for President to be the heir to the Trump base.
But now all hell is breaking loose.
And Ron DeSantis had one reaction to Trump’s arrest that will put your jaw on the ground.
The Real Clear Politics polling average shows DeSantis in a distant second place to Donald Trump.
DeSantis is under pressure from the establishment to start attacking Donald Trump more harshly or else Republican Party bigwigs could abandon him for Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin or Georgia Governor Brian Kemp.
The tension between DeSantis’ need to please the major donors who fund his campaign and his need to peel off a chunk of the Trump base if he wants to win the nomination was on display during the GOP debate and its aftermath.
Reporters asking DeSantis about his reaction to the “split screen” moment of him campaigning at the Field of Dreams stadium – the ballpark built based off the hit 1989 Kevin Costner movie – and Trump surrendering to Democrat authorities in Georgia for his fourth arrest led to him joking about the situation and refusing to condemn the weaponization of the justice system against the former President.
Asked Gov. DeSantis about the split screen of him being at the Field of Dreams in Iowa, and former President Trump getting arrested in Georgia.

Democrat Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis arrested Donald Trump on political charges relating to him exercising his First Amendment right to challenge the 2020 election.
Willis became the third Democrat prosecutor to arrest Trump.
And Willis, like Democrat prosecutors Alvin Bragg and Jack Smith, asked for a trial date squarely in the middle of the GOP Presidential Primary.
Smith, Bragg, and Willis are no longer hiding the fact that the goal of their trials is to hurt Donald Trump politically and help Joe Biden win re-election.
The fact that Willis, Smith, and Bragg are holding three of these trials in Democrat strongholds where they can count on left-wing juries and partisan judges to oversee the proceedings proves that these are nothing more than show trials like those staged in third world banana republics.
DeSantis passing on the opportunity to criticize Democrats for deploying the police power of the state to arrest their top opponent came 24 hours after his worst moment in the GOP debate.
The moderators asked the candidates if they would support Trump as the nominee if Democrats won a conviction in their show trial and he nervously looked around the stage to see what everyone else was doing.
Once DeSantis saw that Vivek Ramaswamy and Nikki Haley raised their hands, he meekly raised his as well.
WOW – Ron had to check out the rest of the stage to decide whether or not to raise his hand.

The DeSantis campaign strategy appears to be not trying to rock the boat and alienate Trump supporters.
That way, if the Democrat prosecutors succeed in convicting and jailing Trump, DeSantis will be the one who benefits.
