And now Steve Bannon dropped this huge hint about who Trump will pick as his running mate.
On his popular War Room podcast, Steve Bannon – who served as Trump’s chief strategist in the 2016 campaign and during his first year at the White House – discussed the topic of Trump’s running mate.
Bannon said he was a huge fan of Arizona’s Kari Lake, but the fact that she was likely to run for Senate took her off the board for Trump to consider as his running mate.
But Bannon floated an out-of-left-field choice for Trump in Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Kennedy Jr. is challenging Joe Biden in the Democrat Party Presidential Primary and supports every left-wing cause under the sun.
Bannon cited a speech Kennedy Jr. gave at the conservative Hillsdale College that garnered a standing ovation as a reason he could appeal to the MAGA base.
“Somebody asked about Robert F. Kennedy and the great speech at Hillsdale, his opening speech and what I think about his prospects. And I said, ‘Look, I’m a Kari Lake person, but if Kari Lake becomes Governor, as she should if this court case, or if not, she runs for the Senate. If she’s not available to be Trump’s VP that Bobby Kennedy would be, I think, be an excellent choice for President Trump to consider. There was a standing ovation and this was a very hardcore MAGA war room posse crowd,” Bannon stated.
Kennedy Jr. gained popularity on the Right by being one of the few Democrats to speak out against COVID vaccine mandates.
But Bannon claimed that Trump picking Kennedy Jr. would signal to the ruling class that he was leading a populist movement to challenge the elites’ control over American society.
“I think that is a signal to the political elites in this country that something very different is going on. And I thought it was quite extraordinary. Robert Kennedy Jr. has huge support for the American populist movement. Look for the GOP elites to start their attacks on Bobby any day now,” Bannon added.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. supports amnesty, gun control, and abortion on demand.
And there are any number of conservatives Donald Trump could pick to show he is leading a populist movement to oust the left-wing elites in charge of American government.
