Donald Trump declared war on the Fake News Media.
There is now a clear winner in that battle.
And the ‘Washington Post’ suffered a huge loss that left Donald Trump grinning from ear to ear.
When Donald Trump took office, the Post added a battle cry of “democracy dies in the darkness” to its front page.
The Post went full tilt on hiring left-wing ideologues who produced nothing but relentlessly negative coverage of Trump and avoided any mention of his achievements.
Going all-in on anti-Trump paid dividends in the short term, as subscriptions and revenue soared.
But in the long run, the anti-Trump business model collapsed.
Over the course of the last year, the Post lost half a million subscribers.
“The Post is on pace to generate around $600 million in revenue in 2022 and has over 2.5 million subscribers, down from three million in January 2021, the people said. The company isn’t expecting to make a profit this year, they said,” the ‘Wall Street Journal’ reported.
Thanks to declining revenue, the Post faced a painful round of job cuts.
“In all, 20 people were laid off. In addition, the Post announced 30 more openings will not be filled,” Poynter reported.
Donald Trump celebrated the fact that the American people rejected the Post’s pro-Democrat coverage.
“People aren’t buying Fake News anymore. It will only get worse for the Washington Post, the Failing New York Times, and all of the Networks and other Lamestream Media that don’t report the news as it is,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
In 2017, Trump predicted the media’s business model would collapse once he left office.
“Newspapers, television, all forms of media will tank if I’m not there. Because without me, their ratings are going down the tubes,” Trump said at the time.
The ‘Washington Post’ is not the only Fake News Media outlet feeling the pinch.
In 2022, CNN posted its lowest ratings in nine years, shut down CNN+, and laid off hundreds of employees.
Fake news outlets like CNN and the ‘Washington Post’ turned into rapid response teams for the Democrat Party and reaped the financial rewards of left-wing Americans tuning in or subscribing for the latest anti-Trump commentary.
But once Trump left office, that audience had no reason to stick around.
And by declaring themselves the opposition to Trump, the Post burned bridges with any American who is not a hardcore Democrat Party voter.
