Oliver Anthony’s working-class anthem Rich Men North of Richmond took the internet by storm.
The unknown Virginia man’s takedown of the political elites racked up millions of views on social media.
And now this Democrats’ reaction to Oliver Anthony will leave you scratching your head.
Anti-gun Connecticut Senator Chris Murphy is one of the Democrats who helped alienate rural Americans like Oliver Anthony who used to vote Democrat.
But because the radical culture war and globalist economic agenda that leftists like Murphy pursued, disillusioned Americans like Oliver Anthony drifted away from their ancestral party.
Now that Anthony’s song is a hit, Murphy is trying to claim leftists should listen to the song and its message to figure out how the Party lost these voters and what it can do to win them back.
a. I think progressives should listen to this. In part, bc it’s just a good tune.
b. But also bc it shows the path of realignment. Anthony sings about the soullessness of work, shit wages and the power of the elites.

Democrats would have to abandon their agenda wholesale to have any hope of regaining the trust of working-class Americans like Oliver Anthony.
Working Americans like Anthony felt the squeeze after the Left’s open borders and globalist free trade deals drove down wages and shipped jobs overseas.
That economic pain came through in the opening verse to Rich Men North of Richmond.
“I’ve been sellin’ my soul, workin’ all day. Overtime hours for b******t pay. So I can sit out here and waste my life away. Drag back home and drown my troubles away,” the lyrics read.
The song also ripped Democrats for taxing working people while giving handouts to those who abuse the system.
“Well God, if you’re 5 foot 3 and you’re 300 pounds, taxes ought not to pay for your bags of fudge rounds,” the lyrics read. “Young men are putting themselves six feet in the ground, cause all this damn country does is keep on kicking them down.”
Anti-gun leftists like Murphy – who voted for every policy that ground down Middle Class Americans like Oliver Anthony – would never actually listen to the words of this song and reorient the Democrat Party’s policy message because it would infuriate their woke base.
