The Left wants to grant illegal aliens citizenship to increase their voting base.
Some Republicans are foolish enough to help them advance their open-borders agenda.
And this RINO is working with Democrats to grant mass-amnesty to illegal aliens.
Amnesty for two million illegals
Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) is negotiating an immigration deal with Senator Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ).
Tillis claims it is necessary to make a deal with Democrats that involves mass-amnesty in order to get improvements to border security.
“If we don’t come to an agreement, I don’t think that we’ll be addressing it for another two to four years,” Tillis told Politico last month. “It could be challenging in a divided Congress.”
The plan would grant green cards, and eventually citizenship to about two million illegal aliens eligible for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.
It would also build more processing centers on the border to more quickly send border-crossers into the U.S. interior.
The bill would temporarily keep Title 42 in place, but it is unclear for how long.
Title 42 is a Trump era policy that allows for illegals caught at the border to be quickly expelled.
Additionally, the bill would give Border Patrol an additional $25 billion in funding.
While keeping Title 42 and additional Border Patrol funding are certainly needed, the tradeoff isn’t really worth it.
This will worsen the border crisis
RJ Hauman with the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) said “It wouldn’t matter if Senator Tillis got $250 billion in funding or a 10 year Title 42 extension — unless Congress changes asylum and detention policies without amnesty involved, the crisis will continue. You can tweet about the border crisis all you want but negotiating an eleventh-hour mass amnesty bill at the same time shows where your true priorities lie.”
This sort of mass amnesty will only make the crisis at the southern border worse by encouraging more foreigners to come here illegally in the hopes of receiving the same deal.
A temporary extension of Title 42 isn’t worth giving permanent citizenship to two million illegals.
It also won’t matter how much funding you give Border Patrol if you tie their hands by not sending back those that they catch entering the country illegally.
Under the Biden administration, the number of illegal border crossings is at a record high.
By the end of the year, the number of illegal aliens apprehended at the border is projected to reach 2.3 million, and that is just the ones who were caught.
Once Title 42 is lifted, it is likely to get even worse.
It is unclear if the plan has the support to pass the Senate in the lame-duck session.
The plan also hasn’t been finalized.
With Republicans poised to take control of the House, they will be in a position to block amnesty.
But Tillis is stabbing conservatives in the back by trying to help them pass amnesty during the lame-duck session.
As bad as the crisis on the southern border is now, any deal that involves amnesty is sure to make it worse.
