Donald Trump is the only declared candidate for President in 2024.
That is about to change.
And this top Republican lied to Donald Trump and made this huge 2024 announcement.
Former U.N. Ambassador and South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley is set to announce her Presidential campaign on February 15 in South Carolina.
The Post and Courier reports:
Cementing what has been in the works for months, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley will formally announce she is running for president and will seek the Republican nomination for her party’s 2024 ticket, The Post and Courier has learned.
According to an invitation soon going out to her backers, Haley’s advertised “special announcement” will come Feb. 15 at the The Shed at the Charleston Visitor Center, a downtown gathering spot that could draw hundreds of supporters into the heart of the city’s tourism district.
The confirmation she is entering the race came Jan. 31 from a member of Haley’s inner circle.
Back in April of 2021 Haley said she would not run for President if Trump ran for re-election.
“I would not run if President Trump ran, and I would talk to him about it,” Haley said in a press conference. “That’s something that we’ll have a conversation about at some point if that decision is something that has to be made.”
Nikki Haley says a lot of things that turn out not to be true.
Haley initially campaigned for South Carolina Governor in 2010 as a Tea Party acolyte.
But it turned out she was a Mitt Romney/John McCain establishment-type figure.
In office, she regularly sided with the woke mob on cultural issues.
In 2016, Haley used the fact that Republicans selected her to deliver the party response to Barack Obama’s State of the Union speech to attack Donald Trump as a “voice of anger” for wanting to build a wall along the Mexican border and ban immigration from terrorist-supporting nations.
After George Floyd died, Haley posted a tweet declaring Americans needed to feel “pain” for Floyd’s death and echoed Black Lives Matter’s false talking points.
“We spent the last couple of days celebrating our son’s graduation. Tonight I turned on the news and am heartbroken. It’s important to understand that the death of George Floyd was personal and painful for many. In order to heal, it needs to be personal and painful for everyone,” Haley wrote.
And after the events of January 6 Haley told POLITICO that Trump lost the capacity to lead and that he had no future in the Republican Party.
“We need to acknowledge he let us down,” Haley declared. “He went down a path he shouldn’t have, and we shouldn’t have followed him, and we shouldn’t have listened to him. And we can’t let that ever happen again.”
Haley reversed course once she saw polls showing Trump retaining the overwhelming support of GOP voters.
Nikki Haley is running for President as one of the champions of the Mitch McConnell wing of the Republican Party.
