Tulsi Gabbard decided to walk away from the Democrat Party after decades.
She’s blazing a new trail forward.
And Tulsi Gabbard gave Democrats a crushing reality check about Donald Trump.
Tulsi Gabbard becomes top ally to Donald Trump
Former Representative Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) ran for the Democrat Presidential nomination in 2020 where she famously squared off with Vice President Kamala Harris.
Gabbard is widely credited with helping end Kamala’s Presidential campaign by exposing her during the Democrat Primary Debates.
The Democrat Party has undergone a dramatic shift that caused Gabbard to leave it behind to become an independent in 2022.
She warned that a totalitarian impulse had taken over her former party after support for weaponizing the justice system against political opponents and censorship became widely accepted.
Democrats had become the party of endless foreign wars and the woke agenda had become an article of faith in the party.
That’s why Gabbard is backing former President Donald Trump in this election.
The Republican Party has undergone a big change under Trump
Gabbard talked about why she left the Democrat Party behind during an interview with Fox News host Maria Bartiromo on Sunday Morning Futures.
Bartiromo noted that Gabbard was a former Democrat.
“You have been traveling the country with Bobby Kennedy, you saw Elon Musk yesterday with President Trump,” Bartiromo said. “Do you believe the GOP is expanding its tent under President Trump?”
“Yes. The short answer is, yes,” Gabbard replied. “You know, when I joined the Democratic Party over 20 years ago, one of the reasons why I joined that party was because it was a big open tent party that stood up for free speech and civil liberties and welcomed people from different backgrounds. It was a party that stood for peace.”
The Republican Party has become the party of the bedrock American values of peace, prosperity, and freedom, according to Gabbard.
“You fast forward to where we are today, now that party is no longer recognizable, and you have under President Trump’s leadership what is now a big, open tent party where people are welcomed in not because we agree on every issue — we don’t,” Gabbard explained.
“We disagree on some issues and maybe some serious issues, but we are standing together around the most important ones that are essential to all of us as Americans,” Gabbard added.
Gabbard and Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. are members of Trump’s 2025 Presidential transition team.
They’ve been traveling the country speaking to disaffected Democrats and independents on behalf of the Trump campaign as part of the Reclaim America Tour.
Shazam actor Zachary Levi and former race car driver Danica Patrick have joined them on tour stops.
Gabbard pointed to the number of former Democrats who’ve united around the basic American principles of the Republican Party.
“You heard President Trump talk about that yesterday with Elon Musk,” Gabbard said about Musk’s appearance at the Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
“It’s what Bobby Kennedy and I are sharing with people across the country, that it is freedom, it is the well-being and interests of the American people, peace, prosperity, and security for all of us,” Gabbard added.
