Army whistleblowers contradict January 6 Committee’s version of events
One of the key elements of the story the January 6 Committee told in its report to frame Donald Trump was that he dithered for three hours before deploying the National Guard to the Capitol on January 6.
Joe Biden prosecutor Jack Smith also seized on this detail in order to make his case that Donald Trump sought to overthrow the government.
But like the claim that Trump supported an “insurrection” – this was also a hoax based on falsehoods.
Captain Timothy Nick testified before Congress that Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy made multiple false claims about what happened that appeared in the Defense Department Inspector General Report.
McCarthy told the Pentagon he spoke to Major General Walker multiple times on January 6 following his request for Guard deployment to the Capitol at 1:50 PM.
Captain Nick said that these conversations never happened.
“I’m here today to aid the Subcommittee in resolving factual errors in the official record of what happened on January 6, 2021, specifically regarding the alleged District of Columbia National Guard delayed response caused by a critical Presidentially-appointed, Senate-confirmed Pentagon senior official,” Captain Nick testified.
“At no time did General Walker take any calls, nor did we ever hear from the secretary on any of the ongoing conference calls or the secure video teleconferencing throughout the day,” Nick added. “This I know because I was with the Command General the entire time recording the events.”
Acting Secretary of Defense Christopher Miller authorized a Guard deployment at 3:11 PM, but Secretary McCarthy threw up another delay by deciding to draw up his own battle plan.
“I know if we were able to deploy immediately when General Walker made the request, the National Guard could have helped end civil disturbance and restore order quickly,” Captain Nick added.
Other military officials blocked Guard deployment
According to the whistleblowers, Lieutenant General Walter Piatt and General Charles Flynn also got in the way of Guard deployment during a 2:30 PM call on January 6 by worrying about the “optics” of sending troops to the Capitol.
“I did hear the word optics. And they did use it. Specifically, General Piatt said ‘optics.’ And his concern was that he did not want soldiers or airmen on Capitol grounds, with the Capitol in the background,” Brigadier General Aaron Dean told the Committee. “They were giving every other reason why we should be around the Capitol, away from the Capitol, and not responding to the Capitol.”
Donald Trump had floated the idea of sending 10,000 troops to secure the Capitol on January 6, but bureaucratic infighting scuttled that idea.
The same bureaucratic paralysis – not Donald Trump’s inactions – caused the delay in the deployment of the National Guard to the Capitol on January 6.
These men were never interviewed by Adam Schiff and the January 6 Committee.
That’s because the purpose of the Committee was to bury any facts that would contradict the political narrative that Democrats hoped to craft in order to end Donald Trump’s political career.
