Nancy Pelosi stacked the January 6 Committee with nothing but hardcore Trump haters who would do her bidding to mindlessly pursue him.
The Committee put false testimony from witnesses like Cassidy Hutchinson before the public, ignored evidence that proved Trump tried to secure the Capitol with 10,000 National Guard troops, and ignored all of Pelosi’s failures in order to fabricate a phony narrative that Donald Trump incited an insurrection.
Members of the Committee fulfilled Pelosi’s political wish by weaponizing the justice system to file bogus criminal referrals against Trump for what happened that day.
These referrals spurred the Biden Justice Department to file unconstitutional charges against Trump for the purpose of meddling in the 2024 election.
Now it’s beginning to dawn on members of the Committee that the rules and tactics they used against Donald Trump were not just a one-time deal.
When a political party smashes norms, the other party eventually gets their turn at bat.
CBS News reported that multiple members of the January 6 Committee are preparing for the eventuality that they will face criminal prosecution and prison time if Donald Trump wins the election.
January 6 Committee members admit they fear going to prison if Trump wins in November
“My wife and I have had conversations about what life would look like if the worst happened,” Congressman Adam Schiff (D-CA) said during an interview with CBS. “You can’t avoid the conversations about ‘What if?’ And I have to think about my own personal safety.”
“My family has told me that they’re going to come to D.C. either way — and they’ll visit me, no matter where I am,” Schiff’s fellow January 6 Committee member Representative Pete Aguilar (D-CA) added.
Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) told CBS News that “I take that lesson to heart,” before adding that she believes Trump when he says he will prosecute January 6 Committee members.
“When he says various things, I think that’s what he means he’ll do,” she said.
January 6 Committee members face accusations of criminal conduct
Congressman Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) chairs the Oversight Subcommittee that is in charge of investigating the January 6 Committee.
The Subcommittee’s report on their investigation alleged that the January 6 Committee deleted ”password protected files” of witness interviews.
“THE SELECT COMMITTEE DELETED RECORDS AND HID EVIDENCE – Reps. Thompson and Cheney failed to turn over video recordings of witness interviews and depositions despite using these recordings in their high-profile, primetime hearings. The Subcommittee recovered over one hundred deleted or password-protected files, including some files that were deleted days before Republicans took the majority. They also hid multiple transcribed interviews of witnesses who had firsthand knowledge of Trump‘s actions on January 6,” the report stated.
Ironically, this could open up January 6 Committee members to obstructing official proceeding charges that carry a 20-year prison sentence.
But unlike Trump and his supporters, these charges may actually stick because the statute is clear that it only criminalizes the destruction of documents or evidence.
Trump saw the results of this report and posted on Truth Social back on March 18 that “She [Liz Cheney] should go to Jail along with the rest of the Unselect Committee!”
Members of the January 6 Committee know they played fast and loose with Constitutional norms.
And it may come back to bite them.
