Nikki Haley crossed a huge line with this awful attack on Donald Trump

Feb 3, 2023

Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley is set to announce her Presidential campaign next week.

Haley wasted no time in going after the frontrunner.

But Nikki Haley crossed a huge line with this awful attack on Donald Trump.

Nikki Haley – who represents the Bush-era GOP – will declare she is running for President despite having previously said she would not enter the race if Trump ran for re-election.

Haley also said that if Trump sought a second term she would endorse him.

Over the course of her career, Haley claimed to be many things – Tea Party leader, social conservative, and a Trump supporter – all of which turned out to be lies.

Radio host Hugh Hewitt asked Trump what he thought of his former U.N. Ambassador running against him for President after previously forswearing the race.

Trump shrugged and said Haley’s real ideology was always ambition.

“She’s overly ambitious,” Trump began telling Hewitt that “Now in the case of Nikki Haley…she said, ‘I’ll never run against my President . . . I’ll never run.’ But Nikki suffers from something that is a very tough thing to suffer from: She’s overly ambitious.”

Trump noted that Haley resigned as both Governor of South Carolina and U.N. Ambassador before her term expired, but Trump told her in a phone call that if she wanted to run for President she should make a go of it.

“She’s a very ambitious person. She just couldn’t stay in her seat. I said, ‘You know what, Nikki, if you want to run, you go ahead and run,’” Trump continued.

Within minutes of Trump’s interview Haley tweeted out a link to a November 2021 article where she called for older candidates to take a cognitive test before running for President.

In the interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network’s David Brody Haley was talking about older candidates like Joe Biden but not exclusively Joe Biden.

“Well what I’ll tell you is, rather than making this about a person, we seriously need to have a conversation that if you’re gonna have anyone above a certain age in a position of power — whether it’s the House, whether it’s the Senate, whether it’s Vice President, whether it’s President — you should have some sort of cognitive test,” Haley told Brody.

“And right now, let’s face it, we’ve got a lot of people in leadership positions that are old. And that’s not being disrespectful. That’s a fact,” Haley added. “And when it comes to that, this shouldn’t be partisan. We should seriously be looking at the ages of the people that are running our country and understand if that’s what we want.”

Nikki Haley doesn’t want to take on Donald Trump directly.

That would invite Trump’s known skill for mockery and devastating nicknames.

So instead Haley went with an oblique criticism that gave her plausible deniability that she really wasn’t saying the 76-year-old Trump’s criticisms of her were due to senility.
