The woke mob is biting off more than it can chew.
Many celebrities are finally beginning to speak out.
And now, Tom Hanks sent the woke outrage mob over the edge after he unleashed on one growing woke trend.
One characteristic of the radical left-wing ideology is that it is always “progressing.”
Many left-wing radicals openly admit that they must never determine an end point for their “progress” because the “revolution” would then become “right-wing.”
Lately, there has been a strong push to retroactively censor books and movies, and slap disclaimers on works of art.
And now, many actors and other artists have reached their breaking point.
Hollywood superstar Tom Hanks is the latest film legend to call out censorship.
While promoting his upcoming novel, The Making of Another Major Motion Picture Masterpiece, the Oscar-winning actor decried editing works of art.
“I’m of the opinion that we’re all grown-ups here,” Hanks explained. “Let’s have faith in our own sensibilities as opposed to having somebody decide what we may or may not be offended by. Let me decide what I am offended by and what I’m not offended by. I would be against reading any book from any era that says ‘abridged due to modern sensitivities.’”
Authors, including Ian Fleming and Roald Dahl, have had their cannon edited to appease the woke, so-called “mainstream” sensibilities of the day.
That would mean that the novels would need to be censored every 20 years.
Eventually, the novel would be a completely different piece of literature without any connection to its original cannon.
Hanks isn’t the only one speaking out.
Legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg recently said he regretted editing firearms out of a remastered cut of E.T.: The Extraterrestrial years ago.
“That was a mistake,” Spielberg said. “I never should have done that. E.T. is a product of its era. No film should be revised based on the lenses we now are, either voluntarily, or being forced to peer through. All our movies are a kind of a signpost of where we were when we made them, what the world was like, and what the world was receiving when we got those stories out there. So I really regret having that out there.”
“Nobody should ever attempt to take the chocolate out of Willy Wonka!” he added. “Ever! For me, it is sacrosanct. It’s our history, it’s our cultural heritage… I do not believe in censorship in that way.”
When traditional liberals, like Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, are calling foul, that is a clear sign that woke culture has gone too far.
