Donald Trump checkmated Jack Smith with one surprise power play

Mar 4, 2024

Jack Smith keeps trying to weaponize the courts to help Joe Biden win re-election.

But Donald Trump threw a curveball his way.

And Donald Trump checkmated Jack Smith with one surprise power play.

Trump proposes delaying Mar-a-Lago documents case until after the 2024 election

Both Jack Smith and Donald Trump had to submit proposed trial schedules to Judge Aileen Cannon in the Mar-a-Lago documents hoax.

Trump’s lawyers asked Judge Cannon to postpone the trial until after the election since it would be impossible for him to get a fair trial in the middle of a Presidential campaign.

“As the leading candidate in the 2024 election, President Trump strongly asserts that a fair trial cannot be conducted this year in a manner consistent with the Constitution,” Trump’s court filing read.

Trump’s lawyers even included the political calendar showing the critical election dates – including the July 15-18 Republican National Convention in Milwaukee – that a trial would interfere with.

Trump’s lawyers – however – also included a proposed August 12 trial schedule.

Jack Smith responds with July trial date

Jack Smith submitted a proposed trial start date of July 8.

Smith’s proposed start date admitted two things.

First, Smith doesn’t believe the Supreme Court will rule on Trump’s Presidential immunity appeal until the end of June in the 2020 election case.

Second, a July 8 trial date means the Washington, D.C., election case will never happen before November.

Smith proposed that the Washington, D.C., trial would take at least two months.

Even if the Mar-a-Lago documents hoax trial went off without a delay, it would mean the Washington, D.C., trial couldn’t begin until around October.

The Justice Department would then have to violate their own policy about not taking prosecutorial actions within 60 days of an election.

And there will be delays in the Mar-a-Lago case, as Trump filed multiple motions to dismiss it on the grounds that Attorney General Merrick Garland unconstitutionally appointed Smith and that he is protected by Presidential immunity.

Jack Smith wants to rush a trial before the election

Jack Smith keeps pushing for pre-election trials.

But Smith refuses to say how it will harm the administration of justice if the case begins on the day after the election.

Smith won’t answer that because he knows it would mean admitting that the entire point of this farce is to try and keep Trump out of the White House.
