Democrat-run cities across the nation have declared themselves “sanctuary cities” for illegals.
But they aren’t too happy when illegals actually show up in them.
Now “sanctuary city” Philadelphia is no longer the “City of Brotherly Love” according to this leading Keystone State Democrat.
Hypocrisy is not just a rare occurrence for Democrats.
In fact, it can be argued it has become a cornerstone of their entire agenda.
Sending illegals to sanctuary cities is “cruel”
Major cities like New York, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia have proudly named themselves sanctuary cities for illegal aliens.
What that really means is Democrat politicians get to thump their chests and tell their radical base they are “doing something.”
But when illegals actually show up on their doorsteps, the pro-illegal immigration politicians literally cry foul.
That’s exactly what Gisele Fetterman, the wife of Pennsylvania Democrat and Senator-elect John Fetterman did.
She said Texas Governor Greg Abbott is playing “political games” that are “cruel” by sending a busload of illegal aliens to the sanctuary city of Philadelphia.
Her comments came after a busload of illegal aliens arrived in the City of Brotherly Love, despite the fact George Soros-backed District Attorney Larry Krasner claimed they will be “proudly” welcomed.
Good for thee, but not for me
Of course, the fact that Democrats’ sanctuary cities decry how awful it is for illegals to just randomly show up in their cities, they have no problems with them flooding across the southern border into border cities and towns.
The fact is, it’s even worse for the cities and towns in Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Florida, California and the other states seeing a massive influx of illegals.
At least the sanctuary cities get advanced warning.
But Gisele Fetterman, who actually first arrived in the United States as an illegal alien, wrote she wished she had been there when the migrant bus arrived.
She also attacked Governor Abbott for his program sending illegal aliens to sanctuary cities.
Fetterman wrote, “I wish I could have been there to receive you. I hope you find kindness and a soft landing spot after your long and arduous journey . . . Abbott’s political games are cruel but I’m proud Philly is welcoming migrants with food, water, shelter, kindness, and open arms.”
That has been the response of most Democrats in not just Philadelphia, but also in New York, D.C., and of course on Martha’s Vineyard – which, of course, had the illegals hauled off the wealthy island by the Massachusetts National Guard within 48 hours.
There is a staggering cost of being a sanctuary city
One thing is certain in all of this debate.
Governors Abbott and DeSantis are forcing sanctuary cities to put their money where their mouth is.
In New York City alone, where Abbott has sent busloads of migrants, the influx of illegals means taxpayers are expected to foot a bill of “at least” $600 million over the next year to pay for social services, free housing, education, and infrastructure costs.
If Abbott or DeSantis decide to accelerate their programs of sending illegals to Democrat-run sanctuary cities that cost will be huge.
Since Joe Biden took office and opened the borders to illegals, more than 5.5 million illegal aliens are estimated to have arrived at the southern border.
The Biden administration admits it is now allowing at least 6,200 illegals into America’s cities and towns every single day.
At that rate, the cost to America’s taxpayers will bankrupt the nation.
