But fans celebrating the big game had different ideas.

The Super Bowl is one of the biggest days of the year for beer sales.

Bud Light hoped to use the attention on Super Bowl commercials to try and regain lost sales after a boycott broke out last April against the brand for partnering with transgender social media influencer Dylan Mulvaney.

The brand ditched woke to return to its classic marketing strategy of using a character, the Bud Light genie, as well as cameos from NFL Hall of Famer Peyton Manning, UFC CEO Dana White, and musician Post Malone in its Super Bowl commercial.

The expensive commercial didn’t help Bud Light sales at bars and restaurants on Super Bowl Sunday.

Beer sales at bars and restaurants during this year’s Super Bowl were up compared to last year, but Bud Light still came out a loser.

Union, a hospitality engagement system for bars and restaurants, reported that beer sales were up 16% on Super Bowl Sunday compared to a typical day and also increased 10% from last year’s Super Bowl at locations using its service.

According to Union’s data, Corona was the top-selling beer for Super Bowl Sunday, while Anheuser-Busch’s, Bud Light’s parent company, Michelob Ultra, was the best-seller during the game.

This year, sales of Bud Light were down 50% during the Sunday of the big game.

Bud Light has tripled its advertising budget to try and repair the damage from the Mulvaney backlash, but consumers aren’t coming back.

Modelo Especial, distributed by Constellation Brands in the U.S., dethroned Bud Light as the best-selling beer in the country last year.

Super Bowl Sunday saw Modelo sales jump by 66% compared to the average day.

After insulting them with the woke partnership, Bud Light has tried everything but apologizing to its core customers, who made it the best-selling beer in America.

Constellation Brands was the big winner from Super Bowl Sunday, while Bud Light continued its losing streak after going woke.

Bud Light’s dreams of a big comeback may never be realized after sales plummeted on one of the biggest days of the year for beer.
