Donald Trump confirmed that he could make this surprising pick to be his running mate

Mar 7, 2024

The race is heating up to join Donald Trump on the GOP ticket as his running mate.

He just revealed a new name that could be rising to the top of his shortlist.

And Donald Trump confirmed that he could make this surprising pick to be his running mate.

Illegal immigration is going to be one of the biggest issues during the 2024 election.

Former President Donald Trump traveled to Eagle Pass, Texas, to inspect the situation on the ground in the border city.

Eagle Pass has become ground zero for the border crisis and Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s battle with President Joe Biden to secure the border.

Biden’s Homeland Security won a decision at the Supreme Court to allow Border Patrol agents to remove the razor wire that Texas placed on the border at Eagle Pass.

Donald Trump visits besieged border city

Trump toured the area with Texas Governor Greg Abbott and members of the Texas National Guard.

He was shown the razor wire Texas had placed at the border after the Supreme Court’s decision to curb the flow of illegal aliens.

“This is like a war,” Trump said. “They’re being let into our country and it’s horrible.”

He added that Biden was allowing “criminals” and “terrorists” to pour into the country.

“Crooked Joe has the blood of countless innocent victims,” Trump said. “It’s so many stories to tell, so many horrible stories.”

A new name is added to Trump’s shortlist for Vice President

Trump and Governor Abbott sat down for an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity from the border.

The former President said that he’s “absolutely” considering picking Abbott to join him as his running mate.

Hannity asked Trump if Abbott was under consideration to be his Vice President.

“I’ve been hearing that more and more from friends of mine. After this show I think I’m going to hear it a lot more, too,” Trump said. “He’s a spectacular man, I was honored when I got his endorsement.”

Abbott endorsed Trump when the former President traveled to the border last Thanksgiving to hand out dinners to Texas National Guardsmen and law enforcement officials working on a border security mission over the holiday.

“He’s done a great job,” Trump continued. “Yes, certainly. He would be somebody that I would very much consider.”

Hannity interrupted him to ask, “So he’s on the list?”

“Absolutely,” Trump replied.

Hannity didn’t ask for Abbott’s reaction to this revelation, but the Texas Governor smiled at the comment from Trump.

Abbott has shot down speculation in the past about seeking higher political office by saying that he’s happy being the Governor of Texas.

This became the first time publicly that Trump confirmed Abbott is in the running to be his Vice President.

Donald Trump’s shortlist for Vice President is growing as he gets closer to locking up the Republican nomination and turning his attention to a General Election showdown with Joe Biden.
