The fear of third-party Presidential candidates playing spoiler in the 2024 election is growing among the Democrat Party elite.
President Joe Biden has a growing problem with important demographics in the Democrat coalition, such as black and younger voters.
This is leaving the door wide open for a third-party candidate to siphon off votes from Biden and potentially cost him re-election.
Jen Psaki fretting about Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.
Former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki slammed the panic button on MSNBC about the threat that Independent Presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. poses to Biden’s re-election.
During an appearance on Morning Joe, she said that Kennedy is a “huge, huge problem” for Biden.
She warned that people could vote for him simply based on his famous last name without considering his policy positions.
Co-host Mika Brzezinski asked Psaki why Kennedy was running when it appeared his candidacy could help former President Donald Trump.
“I don’t want to be in RFK Jr.’s brain where he didn’t believe in science and all sorts of other things,” Psaki remarked. “This is the biggest challenge.”
Kennedy, who’s flirting with switching to running under the Libertarian Party banner, will be on the ballot in the swing states of Arizona, Georgia, and Nevada.
“These third-party candidates are a huge, huge, huge problem, and there’s a number of them. If you look at RFK, it’s the name recognition issue,” Psaki continued. “And there are still states in this country, obviously — I mean, Georgia is one of them, I will name, where the Kennedy name is beloved, right, where people may just not still. . .”
“Right,” Brzezinski interjected.
“Where they may just not know a lot about the fact that he is an anti-vaxxer who’s a conspiracy theorist,” Psaki added. “They don’t know that yet. So this is something.”
Psaki also mentioned that Kennedy is polling at 10% in Michigan and called him a real threat to cost Biden the state.
Democrats trying to stop the third-party threat to Biden
The former White House Press Secretary said that the Biden campaign and Democrats are working to counter the threat posed by Kennedy and other third-party Presidential candidates.
“There is an aggressive effort that the campaign has been working with the Democratic National Committee on to run on this, but it needs to be broad, people need to be shouting it from the rooftops because this is one of the biggest threats to Joe Biden being re-elected, is these third-party candidates,” Psaki added.
Democrats claim to be the Party of Democracy, but they’re actively working on stopping third-party Presidential candidates like Kennedy from getting on the ballot.
