The GOP is turning up the heat on Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
One major scandal has him panicking.
And Josh Hawley asked one important question that left Alejandro Mayorkas boiling with rage.
The growing border crisis is one of the biggest catastrophes unleashed by President Joe Biden’s radical agenda.
The wide-open southern border is fueling a surge in human trafficking by criminals who are forcing kids into slavery.
The New York Times blew the whistle on a major scandal with a bombshell report that the Biden regime turned a blind eye to the “explosive” growth in child labor created by the border crisis.
Minors who illegally cross the border are often being turned into indentured servants to pay back human traffickers.
More than 250,000 unaccompanied minors, greater than the population of Salt Lake City, Utah, have entered the country under Biden’s watch.
These unaccompanied minors are handed over by the Department of Homeland Security to the Health and Human Services (HHS) for care until they’re turned over to a sponsor in the U.S.
Biden’s Labor Department sounded the alarm about the growing number of child labor violations by illegal aliens.
However, the warnings fell on deaf ears.
Staff at HHS warned that the agency was handing over unaccompanied minors to unvetted sponsors who, in some instances, turned out to be human traffickers who forced the kids to work.
Some of the children were forced to work in grueling and dangerous jobs by the criminals who smuggled them into the country.
The Biden regime attempted to pin the blame for the scandal on shelters that house illegal aliens.
Josh Hawley demolishes Mayorkas
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas was grilled during testimony before the Senate after the latest shocking border scandal.
Josh Hawley (R-MO) unloaded on Mayorkas over the child labor tragedy during a hearing of the Senate Homeland Security Committee.
“Under the last administration, children were reunited with their families in their home country,” Hawley said. “You changed that and as soon as you changed it, the numbers exploded. That is your responsibility.”
During former President Donald Trump’s administration, unaccompanied minors were often returned to their parents in their native countries after being expelled under Title 42, a public health policy that allowed for federal authorities to swiftly deport illegal aliens.
The Biden regime rescinded the policy of sending minors back to their families after taking office, which fueled a surge in unaccompanied minors at the border.
Mayorkas was on his heels and claimed that Hawley was making “false statements.”
Hawley fired back by saying that DHS had done nothing to stop the crisis and claimed Mayorkas had pressured officials to not properly vet sponsors for minors.
“You have, at every stage, facilitated this modern-day indentured servitude of minor children. Why should you not be impeached for this?” Hawley asked.
Mayorkas tried to claim that Hawley was misstating the facts and proceeded to blame the Trump administration for the problems at the border.
“A moment ago, you were crowing about the fact that you treated children so well, and yet we find tens of thousands of children who are forced to work as slaves because of your policies and you turn around and blame a prior administration,” Hawley explained.
The horrifying child labor scandal will only add fuel to the fire for House Republicans to impeach Mayorkas.
