Donald Trump is running for President for a third time.
And by 2024 he will be 80.
That’s why some of his leading supporters are now urging Trump to hang it up and do this one thing instead.
Former President Donald Trump’s post Midterm announcement took no one by surprise.
He had been hinting at a third run for the White house for weeks.
In fact, Trump insiders tell Deplorable Daily that Trump had been itching to announce even before the Midterm elections.
But while Trump’s avid grassroots supporters were thrilled with the announcement, some of Trump’s former closest advisors and supporters have a different take.
“We’re going to have better choices”
Donald Trump is certainly a lightning rod in American politics.
The very thing that makes him so popular with at least 35% of the voters (no matter what he does) is the same thing that gets him in trouble with others.
His candor and willingness to tell it like it is, and to say whatever is on his mind, no matter what the repercussions may be.
And since his announcement, a number of leading conservative leaders have come out against another Trump run for the White House.
Even these former Trump supporters are now questioning if Trump should be the nominee.
Of course it wasn’t really surprising when Trump’s Vice President Mike Pence told reporters, “I honestly believe that we’re going to have better choices.”
Pence sees himself in the Oval Office.
But South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem also has reservations about former President Donald Trump’s bid for re-election.
Noem told The New York Times she didn’t think the former President offered the “best chance” for the Republican Party in 2024.
And as Deplorable Daily previously reported, Trump’s former White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney said on CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360 that his old boss is the only Republican who can’t win the 2024 general election.
Now, even that old Reaganite curmudgeon himself, former Secretary of Education William Bennett, an ardent supporter of Donald Trump in the past, says he won’t back the former President in his 2024 run for the White House because he doesn’t believe Trump can win.
“He ran a great country . . . he’s got a great legacy . . .”
“I was a very strong supporter of [Trump] and defended him in lots of public forums, including Fox, however I hope he’s not the nominee this time,” Bennett told Fox News Digital.
Bennett continued, “First of all, gratitude for the kind of country he ran. Our borders were secure, we were safe, the economy was humming for everybody, interest rates were low, and attention was being paid to the right things. He ran a great country and policy trumps personality, but we’ve reached a point, and this is a calculation on my part, there are just too many people now who will not vote for Donald Trump.”
Bennett, a Fox News contributor, said he is looking for the type of leadership offered by individuals like Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
“I think a generation change is needed as well,” Bennett went on. “Both political parties could use a generation shift . . . We need to make that change.”
Bennett also said, “I don’t want to see [Trump] run and be defeated, which I think would happen in ’24. He ran a great country; he’s got a great legacy in that. He should embrace that legacy and step aside.”
As the Midterms begin to fade in the rearview mirror and 2024 appears on the horizon, expect more leading voices to weigh in on both Trump and the very future of the GOP.
