What this leading left-wing journalist just admitted about Donald Trump will leave your jaw on the floor

Oct 31, 2022

Most leftists despise Donald Trump.

They believe he is a hardcore right-wing fascist.

But what this leading left-wing journalist just admitted about Donald Trump will leave your jaw on the floor.

To listen to most leftists, you would think Donald Trump was an evil fascist dictator.

Of course, as any sane person knows, this is simply not true.

But, as usual, facts and truth matter not to the radical Left.

Even a blind squirrel can find a nut

That said, every once in a great while, some leading leftist leader or media personality will get it right.

Usually, it’s someone on Fox News or in the Wall Street Journal.

But every now and then even the most radical leftist rag gets it right.

That’s how a left-wing journalist ended up arguing on a New York Times podcast that former President Trump’s policies and political views are “just not that extreme.”

Left-wing journalist Matt Yglesias made this claim, and others just as inflammatory to the Left, on the “Ezra Klein Show” podcast.

Yglesias also made the stunning declaration that Trump is actually more moderate in some policy areas than Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) and other establishment RINOs.

“I know how strong the reactions are, so I just — I want to be careful in what I’m saying. But Donald Trump’s stated policy views are just not that extreme,” Yglesias admitted.

“The positions he took on immigration are pretty similar to the positions Mitt Romney took on immigration. The positions he took on economic policy are much more moderate than the ones Romney took in 2012. His wildest ideas — like we should completely ban Muslims from entering the country — poll better than lots of more, quote unquote, ‘mainstream’ opinions,” Yglesias continued.

Let’s not do the unpopular stuff

Trump ran in 2016 as an outsider candidate and he bluntly criticized the establishment of both parties during both the GOP primaries and the general election.

He coined the “Swamp” moniker for Washington, D.C. politicians of both parties who were selling Americans down the river on issues like immigration and crony politics.

Despite that, and Trump’s often brutal language about his opponents, the former President has often defended Social Security and his administration did not attempt to cut its benefits to Americans.

“[H]e didn’t come out there and say, hey, we should privatize Social Security and get crowds cheering for him,” Yglesias said.

“What he did was he was like, let’s not do the most toxically unpopular stuff that the Republican Party used to stand for,” he continued.

Trump also took a very moderate view of the budget and spending, signing a number of large spending bills.

But his tweets are mean

And on one issue, Trump became the favorite of libertarians and anti-war Republicans.

During Trump’s time in office peace broke out around the world and new allies were gained.

He even made great strides in the Middle East with the Abraham Accords.

He did all of this, not by being a weak, wimpy Commander-in-Chief but by being strong and decisive while at the same time showing a willingness to talk to all leaders.

Unfortunately, in less than two years, Biden has destroyed almost all the good Trump accomplished and the world is now on the brink of a major war.

But despite all of this, the leftists remain out to destroy Trump, and largely it is due to his candor.

He does not mince words and tells it like it is.

Especially on social media.

The former President became a pariah to the radical Left for calling them, and their minions out on Twitter.

It turns out truth and candor incite the Left more than policies.
