Donald Trump just made one huge 2024 announcement that no one saw coming

Donald Trump keeps trying to set the terms of the 2024 debate.

Trump sought to dominate the conversation once again.

And Donald Trump just made one huge 2024 announcement that no one saw coming.

Trump releases video detailing his stance on abortion

One of the only issues polls show Joe Biden holding an advantage over Trump on is the issue of abortion.

That’s largely due in part to a media smear campaign falsely claiming that Republicans wanted to deny women health care by passing Pro-Life laws at the state level to protect life as early as six weeks.

In the wake of the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade, this strategy proved remarkably successful in the 2022 Midterms, as establishment-aligned consultants told their candidates to stick their heads in the sand on the issue.

Trump tried to avoid a repeat in November by releasing a four-minute video outlining his position on abortion that amounted to him taking credit for appointing the Justices who cast the decisive votes to overturn Roe, which returned the issue of abortion to the states where it belongs.

“My view is now that we have abortion where everybody wanted it from a legal standpoint, the states will determine by vote or legislation, or perhaps both, and whatever they decide, must be the law of the land,” Trump stated.

Trump claimed that abortion was about the “will of the people” and said the voters would decide state by state whether or not to protect life.

“This is all about the will of the people. You must follow your heart or in many cases, your religion or your faith. Do what’s right for your family, and do what’s right for yourself,” Trump added. “Do what’s right for your children. Do what’s right for our country, and vote – so important to vote. At the end of the day, it’s all about the will of the people.”

Trump’s stance wins him no friends

Trump cast the issue as a matter of political necessity and said Republicans couldn’t win elections if they didn’t take a politically palatable stance on abortion and enact its priorities on other issues like crime, the border, and inflation.

“You must follow your heart of this issue, but remember, you must also win elections to restore our culture, and, in fact, to save our country, which is currently and very sadly, a nation in decline,” Trump continued. “Our nation needs help. It needs unity. It needs us all to work closely together.”

But if Trump thought this statement would take the issue off the table and defang Democrat attacks, then he thought wrong.

Shortly after he released his video, the Biden campaign put out a statement containing the boiler plate Democrat Party attacks about Donald Trump being an extremist and wanting to physically harm women.

“Trump says he supports extreme abortion bans across the country that criminalize doctors, threaten IVF, and force rape victims to give birth: ‘That’s what they will be,’” a statement from the Biden campaign read.
