The American people are still reeling from the government’s unconstitutional COVID lockdowns.
But the COVID lockdowns could have been a test for even more ominous government programs.
And now Joe Biden is planning these shocking new lockdowns that could change everything.
The past couple of years have been a study in just how far a government will go to control its people.
The worst impulses of both government and the people
During the COVID pandemic, Americans saw the U.S. government put supposedly temporary measures into place that turned into two years of “emergency” restrictions.
Even though none of it was based on science, medicine, or common sense, for the most part the American people accepted these lockdowns, mandates, and restrictions.
The success of the government’s lockdowns in terms of getting the American people to go along with them is causing many to fear what could be next.
In fact, many experts are now predicting that COVID lockdowns were only a testrun for more serious crackdowns on liberty to come.
As Kristin B. Tate wrote in The Hill, “implementing significant but partial restrictions, one by one, in the name of the common good can allow for encompassing government control that results in relatively little backlash. Fear over climate change could lead to long-term soft lockdowns, given the precedent of immense growth of government power and significant support for sweeping state actions.”
But Tate isn’t just touting some right-wing conspiracy theory.
Calls for harsh and dystopian government measures in the name of “climate change” are already being pushed by many leftist organizations and figures.
“Climate change is a bigger threat than COVID”
As far back as November of 2020, the Red Cross stated that climate change is a bigger threat to the world than COVID and should be confronted with “the same urgency.”
To no one’s surprise, Bill Gates recently demanded drastic measures to prevent climate change while also claiming that it will be worse than the pandemic.
And despite the millions of deaths from COVID, former Governor of the Bank of England, Mark Carney, last year predicted so-called “climate deaths” will dwarf those of the pandemic.
Mandatory lockdowns, which did in fact significantly reduce carbon emissions during 2020, is their answer to the “climate change” problem.
The EU’s climate service has in fact already stated that COVID lockdowns may have saved 800 lives from climate deaths.
“Most likely, cities and states would begin a gradual and discrete ramp-up of restrictions,” Tate wrote about climate lockdowns. “During the early days of the pandemic, millions of Americans worked from home; this could become the permanent norm if special carbon taxes are put in place. Such taxes could be imposed on companies, limiting driving or air miles, and extend to individual employees. Drive to work in a car? You get hit with the tax.”
But according to Tate, that’s not all.
“Children could be impacted by climate lockdowns, too,” Tate wrote. “Schools, especially those heavily influenced by teachers’ unions, could impose permanent online-only days. Delhi, India is already using a version of this concept to crack down on smog pollution.”
Don’t think these measures are too radical for the Left.
There are already major new measures being planned to combat climate change.
California is joining with Germany to ban the sale of gasoline cars in 13 years.
Great Britain plans to ban them in just eight years.
As each negative weather event is blamed on climate change, governments will increasingly use their powers to crack down on freedom.
Global elites continue to insist that climate change is the “biggest threat modern humans have ever faced.”
Tate said climate lockdowns and other restrictions on liberty “will be framed as saving the people of the United States, and the world, from themselves.”
And based on the number of people who willingly accepted COVID lockdowns, the coming climate change lockdowns will be even worse.
After all, anyone who opposes climate lockdowns and other restrictions will be labeled either a “climate denier” or even a “domestic terrorist.”
And the new rules won’t apply to everyone equally.
You will be held responsible for your personal carbon footprint, enforced by either law or climate “Karens.”
But climate change evangelists like Jeff Bezos or “climate czar” John Kerry will receive special dispensations for their carbon use.
